Cashner agreed to a two-year, $16 million deal with the Orioles on Thursday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
After a long offseason without a deal, the big right-hander finally has a home in Baltimore. On the surface, his 3.40 ERA with Texas last season looks great, but his peripherals are pretty awful. His FIP is over a run higher than his ERA, and his strikeout rate plummeted to just 4.6 K/9. Cashner will likely fit into the rotation as a number three starter with the Orioles, but he's less than appealing for fantasy purposes unless he continues his run of luck from last season.

Cashner will not receive a $17.4M qualifying offer from the Rangers, Jon Heyman of FanRagSports.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cashner had a solid season for the Rangers, finishing with a 11-11 record and a 3.40 ERA over 166.2 innings, although he did have a low K/9 in 2017, sitting at 4.64. Cashner's injury history is likely another reason that the Rangers decided not to make him a qualifying offer -- it's unclear at this point where the 31-year-old right-hander will end up for the 2018 season.

Cashner (11-11) picked up the win Saturday against the Athletics, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks across six innings of work. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
Like his last start, the right-hander was plagued with bad defense behind him, but he managed to work his way out of trouble for the most part despite tossing just over half his pitches for strikes. Cashner will finish the 2017 campaign with a solid 3.40 ERA, although fantasy owners should be ready for some regression in 2018 given his 4.65 FIP. His fantasy value heading into next season will also vary depending on where he lands in free agency.

Cashner (10-11) was roughed up for eight runs (but just one earned) on six hits and two walks with two strikeouts over 3.2 innings and took the loss Monday to the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
Cashner wasn't helped by his defense, but he pitched poorly despite the two errors. He managed just nine first pitch strikes to 22 hitters and mustered just five swinging strikes in 82 pitches. Cashner has failed to finish the fifth inning in two of his past three starts after throwing at least six innings for four straight outings.

Cashner (10-10) gave up three runs on six hits and three walks over six innings Wednesday while striking out two to earn the win in an 8-6 victory over the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
A seven-run fourth inning by the Rangers gave Cashner all the offense he would need on the night, although his bullpen made things interesting after he exited the game. It's the righty's fourth quality start in his last five outings, and his 3.45 ERA over that stretch has helped fuel Texas' improbable climb back into the AL wild-card race. Cashner will next take the mound Monday at home against the Astros, who he held to one run over eight innings in his best start of the season back on Aug. 30.

Cashner allowed five earned runs over 4.1 innings and took the loss Thursday as the Rangers fell to the Mariners. He served up six hits and posted a 2:5 K:BB in the outing.
EDGE Analysis
Cashner allowed just four earned runs in 21 innings over his previous three outings, but he could not keep the momentum going Thursday. He will not have to wait long for another shot at the Mariners, as he is lined up to face them in his next start early next week.

Cashner allowed one run on four hits and one walk while striking out four over seven innings in a no-decision against the Yankees on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
He wasn't as dominant as Luis Severino on the other side, but this was another strong performance from Cashner; it was his eighth quality start in 10 second-half turns. The right-hander induced seven groundball outs and the only run against him scored after he left the game (Alex Claudio allowed an inherited runner to score). Cashner lines up to face the Mariners his next time out.

Cashner (9-9) allowed two runs on six hits and two walks and struck out five through six innings to pick up the win Monday over Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
Cashner has been fantastically consistent since July, as he has allowed more than three runs just once in 10 starts over the past two months. He thrives on ground balls and induced seven, instrumental in keeping the Braves from recording a hit with runners in scoring position. Cashner's consistency has earned him a 3.29 ERA this season.

Cashner (8-9) held Houston to a single run on three hits over eight innings Wednesday, striking out six without a walk en route to an 8-1 victory.
EDGE Analysis
Mark this down as the best start of the year for Cashner -- not only is it the first time he's gone eight innings, but stunningly enough, those six whiffs represent a season high. Indeed, Cashner's 69:49 K:BB in 133.2 innings on the year is a deplorable figure; that strikeout rate is a career low by a mile and one of the worst marks in the league. Cashner's carrying respectable ratios with 3.30 ERA and 1.29 WHIP despite all that, but his 4.40 FIP and 5.21 xFIP tell the real story. Expect regression to strike him before the season's out.

Cashner allowed four runs on seven hits and a walk in six innings while striking out two in a no-decision against the Angels on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Cashner failed to turn in a quality start for the second straight contest after notching six consecutive quality starts dating back to the beginning of July. While he still owns a respectable 3.44 ERA across 125.2 innings, his lowly 63:49 K:BB severely limits his fantasy value. He'll have his hands full against the Astros in his next scheduled start Tuesday.
