There is some optimism that the quad tightness won't cause Ethier to miss time, but it will be a situation to monitor ahead of Friday's game.

Ethier is out of the lineup Sunday against the Mets. Ethier will take a seat with a left-hander, Steven Matz, scheduled to take the mound for New York. Manager Don Mattingly will play the numbers here, giving righty Scott Van Slyke the starting nod in left field.

With left-hander Tsuyoshi Wada on the hill for the Cubs, Ethier will remain out of the lineup as the Dodgers go with a starting outfield of Yasiel Puig, Joc Pederson and Scott Van Slyke. Either is hitting just .210 (13-for-62) in the month of June.

Ethier is out the lineup Sunday against the Giants. Ethier will receive the day off Sunday following a 0-for-4 night at the dish Saturday. Alex Guerrero will receive the start in left field in his place, batting sixth for the Dodgers.

Ethier is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers. The returning Scott Van Slyke will take over in left field against lefty Wandy Rodriguez, as Ethier sits following six straight starts. Ethier is just 2-for-15 in his last four games but figures to continue starting against right-handed pitching.

Ethier will still see the lion's share of the playing time in left field, though he will lose some at-bats to the returning Scott Van Slyke (back) next week, the Dodgers' official site reports. Van Slyke is expected to return on Monday and should see most of the at-bats versus LHP.
