Red Sox optioned RHP Allen Webster to Triple-A Pawtucket and C Christian Vazquez to Double-A Portland. Webster, who came over in last Summer's Adrian Gonzalez deal, showed off his electric stuff this spring to the tune of a 1.64 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 14/1 K/BB ratio over 11 spring innings. While the Red Sox already appear loaded at the back end of their bullpen, expect to see Webster operating in a setup capacity before the season is through.

Red Sox purchased the contract of RHP Allen Webster from Double-A Portland. Acquired in August in the megadeal with the Dodgers, Webster posted a 3.86 ERA while striking out a batter per inning at Double-A this season. He's a promising young righty but probably isn't ready to make his major league debut in 2013.
