The Padres declined to tender Amarista a contract Friday, making him a free agent, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Amarista provided versatility off the Padres' bench, making starts at five different positions last season. He makes decent contact but has never been an offensive threat (career .230/.276/.320), and there's a chance he could find himself back in the minors to begin 2017.

Amarista (hamstring) was activated from the 15-day DL on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
He has been out for exactly a month with the left hamstring strain, and now the Padres can activate him without a corresponding move, thanks to roster expansion. Amarista has hit a pretty empty .280 this season, with zero home runs, eight runs, nine RBI and eight steals in 110 plate appearances. He should be used in a utility role in the season's final month, seeing time at second base, third base, shortstop and in the outfield corners.

Manager Andy Green is hopeful that Amarista (hamstring) will be able to return at some point during the team's next road trip, Jeff Sanders of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Amarista will test his injured hamstring with some running Friday, and if all goes well, a rehab assignment may not be too far off. Still, the Padres' next road trip doesn't even start until Aug. 26, and the team could always opt to just wait until rosters expand Sept. 1 to reinstate Amarista.

Amarista (hamstring) has been placed on the 15-day DL by the Padres on Tuesday, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Amarista left Monday's game with a hamstring injury, and it looks like it will sideline him for a least a couple of weeks. The 27-year-old was hitting .350 in his last 20 at-bats for the Padres. He will be eligible to return from the DL on August 17.

Amarista exited Monday's game against the Brewers in the fifth inning with a leg injury.
EDGE Analysis
Amarista needed to be taken off the base paths after hitting an RBI single during San Diego's four-run, fifth inning. With the Padres' outfielders already decimated with injuries, normal catcher Christian Bethancourt replaced Amarista.

Amarista was recalled from Triple-A El Paso on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
This will be Amarista's second stint with the Padres this season, although he has spent most of the year with the big league club. He slashed .256/.319/.280 in 92 plate appearances in the first half and should return to his super utility role off the bench going forward.

Amarista was optioned to Triple-A El Paso on Sunday, MLB.com's AJ Cassavell reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Padres needed room on the roster to activate Andrew Cashner from the DL on Sunday, and it turns out that Amarista, a reserve infielder, was deemed expendable. The 27-year-old has appeared in over 100 games in three straight seasons for the Padres, and will likely be back up with the team as soon as the need for an extra bench player arises.

Amarista went 2-for-3 with a steal, two RBI and a walk Tuesday against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
Amarista was the lone bright spot offensively for the Padres, as he singled in both of the team's runs in a losing effort. Although he's only had 20 at-bats this month, he's posted a .350 June batting average after hitting only .138 in May to bring his season batting average to .257.
