If Wilson is ultimately unable to crack the rotation out of spring, he'll likely fall back to his role as one of the team's top relievers.

Wilson (leg) agreed to a one-year, $1.925 million deal with the Tigers on Friday to avoid arbitration, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

This was the second year as an arbitration-eligible player for Wilson. The right-hander appeared in 66 games for Detroit last season, posting a 4.50 ERA and 1.37 WHIP, but was only able to manage 42 strikeouts in 60 innings. He also suffered a fractured leg during a late-September outing, but should be ready by the time spring training rolls around.

Wilson was forced from Saturday's game after suffering a non-displaced fibular fracture on his right lower leg.

The lefty was struck by a batted ball, and the broken leg will end his season. Wilson will wind up with a 4.50 ERA and 17 holds in 60 innings. He'll look to heal in time for spring training heading into his second year of arbitration and, if tendered a contract, should hold down a role in the middle or late innings with the Tigers' bullpen in his age-31 season.

Wilson recorded his 16th hold of the season Friday against the Blue Jays despite allowing two runs on two hits in an inning of work.
