Meyer's next scheduled start at Triple-A Salt Lake was postponed, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Meyer was slated to pitch Wednesday's outing at Salt Lake. However, the club opted to push it off so it could entertain the possibility of bringing him up to start Thursday's outing against the Mariners, as the Angels need someone to fill Tyler Skaggs' (oblique) spot in the rotation. Meyer has started one major-league game this season, during which he allowed two runs over 3.2 innings.

Meyer was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday, Pedro Moura of the Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Meyer made a spot start Friday and gave up two runs over 3.2 innings, his first major-league outing of the season. He'll return to Salt Lake, where he has a 4.80 ERA and 1.60 WHIP for the year.

Meyer held the Blue Jays to two runs over 3.2 innings Friday, but he walked four batters in an extra-inning loss.
EDGE Analysis
The former top prospect continues to struggle with his command in the majors. The tall righty was at the 75-pitch mark when he was removed from the game before the conclusion of the fourth inning, a trend that will not help his case for stealing a rotation spot from JC Ramirez or Jesse Chavez. Meyer was brought up for a spot start, and barring unforeseen circumstances, it appears that one start is all he will receive after Friday's sub-par outing.

Meyer was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake and will start Friday against the Blue Jays, Maria Guardado of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Friday's start will be the seventh of Meyer's career at the major-league level. It's expected to just be a spot start for Meyer, but depending on how he fares, there's a chance he could push JC Ramirez back to the bullpen. Meyer has given up eight runs on 19 hits with 18 strikeouts to five walks in three starts for Salt Lake so far this season (15 innings).

Meyer will be called up from Triple-A Salt Lake to make a spot start Friday against the Blue Jays, the Los Angeles Times' Pedro Moura reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Angels are saying that Meyer is simply getting a start to give everyone else in the rotation an extra day of rest, but if he were to pitch well, it seems like he could bump JC Ramirez from the rotation. Meyer had a 4.80 ERA and 1.60 WHIP at Triple-A, but his 3.21 FIP and 18:5 K:BB in 15 innings tell a slightly different story. He has plenty of strikeout potential, but has yet to prove he can be efficient enough to be a reliable big-league starter.

Meyer has been reassigned to Triple-A Salt Lake, The Orange County Register reports Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Meyer's best shot to make the team this year was as a reliever. Currently, the Angels feel his future is still as a starting pitcher, and he was too inconsistent this spring to unseat any of the club's stable of veteran hurlers. If Meyer can't start getting results consistently as a starter soon, though, a switch to the bullpen could be coming.

Meyer appears to be ticketed for Triple-A Salt Lake City, The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
No official move has been made, and Meyer is slated to pitch against the Rangers on Friday, but a start in the minors seems inevitable after the 2011 first-round draft pick posted inconsistent results through three spring starts (5.79 ERA). If he is sent to the minors, the lanky righty could be called upon to start during the season should any of the Angels' projected starters struggle or go down to injury.

Meyer was tagged for three runs on two hits while walking four and striking out none, only recording two outs in a loss to the Cubs on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
This was a big step backwards for Meyer after he had a clean outing in his spring debut last Wednesday. The former first-round pick was scheduled to throw three innings against the Cubs, but he couldn't locate his pitches and failed to get out of his first frame. Meyer is currently competing for the Angels' final rotation spot, but Monday's outing is a rough reminder that he is a long shot to win the job over proven more-experienced options such as Jesse Chavez or Bud Norris.

Meyer fired a pair of scoreless innings in his Cactus League debut Wednesday. He walked a pair and struck out one.
EDGE Analysis
Meyer -- who has reworked his delivery this offseason -- is trying to make the Angels' rotation out of camp. The shorter delivery was implemented to take the stress off of his shoulder, which has given him issues in the past. The 2011 first-round pick made five starts for the Angels last season after coming over in a trade from Minnesota, posting a 4.57 ERA with a 1.9 K/BB ratio in those five starts. Meyer is considered a dark horse in the battle for the Angels' fifth starter spot, but a strong spring would go a long way in improving his chances to making the 25-man roster, even as a reliever.

Meyer reworked his delivery over the offseason, speeding up his windup while keeping his shoulder closed before he releases his pitches, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. Meyer also worked with a physical therapist and Angels minor league pitching programs coordinator Matt Wise to develop a program to preserve his health.
EDGE Analysis
The altered shoulder positioning may go a long way to curing the shoulder issues he's endured. Like many tall hurlers, the 6-foot-10 right-hander has struggled to sustain a consistent delivery and stay healthy. He sustained a 4.57 ERA in five starts with the Angels last year, striking out 24 but also walking 13 batters in 21.2 innings. He still has the notable upside from his prospect days, but he faces obstacles with his own makeup and a crowded Halos staff in the way of an opportunity.
