Chambers was reassigned to minor league camp Thursday, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports. Chambers was one of 12 players cut by the Cubs on Thursday. He hit .250 with three RBI in 20 at-bats this spring. He'll probably spend the year with Triple-A Iowa.

Chambers has agreed to a minor league contract with the Cubs, Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish reports. Chambers spent last season in the minors with Houston and Toronto, but played in the majors for portions of the previous three seasons. In those years Chambers hit .216/.289/.295 for the Cardinals, but he will have to significantly pick up his play in the minors before he will get a chance to improve those numbers.

Blue Jays acquired OF Adron Chambers from the Astros for LHP Alejandro Solarte and INF Will Dupont. Chambers was batting .281/.356/.416 with two home runs and 15 RBI through 102 plate appearances this season for the Astros' Triple-A affiliate in Oklahoma City. Known primarily for his speed, the 27-year-old had been caught on three of four stolen base attempts. He's doubtful to make any sort of positive impact in Toronto.

The 27-year-old, who has spent most of the past three seasons with Memphis, has slashed a putrid .216/.289/.295 over 99 plate appearances with St. Louis over parts of the last three seasons. He declared for free agency and will look for a minor league deal elsewhere.
