He later stepped into the box as the potential tying run in the ninth but failed to reach base. According to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com, Judge now owns the Yankees franchise record for home runs before the All-Star break with 34. Judge led off the third inning with a solo shot off Cade Povich, his league-leading 33rd of the season. Otherwise, Baltimore pitchers wanted nothing to do with Judge -- he'd draw walks in his other four at-bats. The homer was Judge's first since July 2. He'd been in a bit of a slump coming into Friday, going just 4-for-31(.129) in his previous eight games. Still, it's been another excellent year for the 32-year-old outfielder -- Judge is now slashing .306/.429/.674 with 84 RBI and 71 runs scored through 414 plate appearances.

It was unusual for Judge rack up three hits without any going for extra bases -- coming into Friday, 54 of his 88 hits on the season had been of the extra-base variety. Nonetheless, the slugger's ninth-inning, two-run single resulted in a sixth game with at least one RBI over his past 10 contests. Though the Yankees suffered through an ugly loss to their crosstown rival, Judge kept chugging along, smashing a 400-foot, two-run homer in the sixth inning for his team's only runs. The long ball was the slugger's 10th through 21 games in a monstrous June during which he's also produced 32 RBI. Judge is the league leader with 30 home runs on the campaign, and he's just the third player in MLB history to reach 30 homers before the All-Star break three times in his career, per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.

Judge generated runs in a variety of ways. His first-inning blast put the Yankees ahead, and he drew a bases-loaded walk in the sixth to tack on an insurance run. Even one of his outs, a groundout into a double play, allowed a run to score in the third. Judge has three homers over his last five contests and is up to 28 long balls this year as he continues to pace the majors. He's added a spectacular .301/.425/.692 slash line with 70 RBI, 59 runs scored and five stolen bases through 77 games, a level of production quite similar to his MVP campaign from 2022.
