Basically so you can set up different stuff than the regular season. Like larger rosters during the offseason but has you cut your rosters before week 1. So you can draft without cutting players. An on and off again waiver wire so players are not FCFS throughout the offseason. For those who use blind bids have off season money and regular season money. Just a few ideas.

You can increase rosters in the offseason and use a waiver wire.
