I think it's time to give up on Fleaflicker as a gaming platform, unless it is a private league and you know everyone in the league. There are so many leagues where immature commissioners and other players are changing the rules, changing settings, deleting teams, switching to no waviers, and then picking up players. Or, the one guy has multiple IDs and multiple teams and makes obviously one-sided trades.
Fleaflicker has some real problems as a legitimate gaming system:
1. If you report cheating - you earn bad karma.
2. People can drop teams in mid-season - Not like that on ESPN, Yahoo, CBS Sports, Fox Sports, or NFL.com
3. Flea is VERY SLOW to respond - the usual response is we don't get involved.
4. The interface is primitive comparied to fantasy sports on the other systems listed in item 2 above.
If you drop teams, you get a red flag. If you report cheating you get a red flag. And Flea is slow to respond.
I was in a league where the commissioner changed the settings in mid season, dropped a team, and then picked up the players from the dropped team. I complained to Flea, and they did nothing. I complained on the league message board, and suddenly four players on the league started a vote to vote me out. I now know that the commissioner HAD FOUR TEAMS in the league. I got four "You're Cheating" votes, and now I have a red flag. I thought this was crazy. I wrote Flea, and two weeks later they said it would go away after two weeks. It has now been six weeks. I've written again, and no response.
"2. People can drop teams in mid-season - Not like that on ESPN, Yahoo, CBS Sports, Fox Sports, or NFL.com"
1. It's nice to be able to drop out of a league mid-season. If there is a cheating commish in one league, I don't want to be in that league, so yes, I will drop out mid-season.
2. Yahoo, CBS, Fox, and NFL.com all are TERRIBLE places for fantasy sports. The only free service to come close to FleaFlicker, is ESPN. If you want to pay for a league, go to Myfantasyleague.com, but when it comes to free fantasy sports websites, you don't get any better than Fleaflicker.
3. Going back to the cheating commish complaint...You can and most likely will have a cheating commish on ANY fantasy website you join, if you join a sketchy public league. Especially when you're in as many leagues as you're in on here.
4. Since you're in so many leagues on this website, you must find FleaFlicker pretty badass (which it is).
"3. Flea is VERY SLOW to respond - the usual response is we don't get involved."
^ That is completely and absolutely false. I have written questions and inquiries to Hal many, many times and I get a response within 24 hours of my email. Only once have I had to send an email twice before getting a response.
"The interface is primitive compared to fantasy sports on the other systems listed in item 2 above."
It's also a lot more simplistic and easier to understand which is always good for people who are starting out or people who have been playing for a long time on FF but have just became a commish. The interface is fantastic, and while it could offer a tad more customization for every league, I dare you to go try and navigate CBS, Fox, and Yahoo and I personally guarantee that FF is 100 times more user-friendly than those "big boy" websites.
"There are so many leagues where immature commissioners and other players are changing the rules, changing settings, deleting teams, switching to no waviers, and then picking up players. Or, the one guy has multiple IDs and multiple teams and makes obviously one-sided trades."
This can be done on almost every website, so that point is moot.
"I think it's time to give up on Fleaflicker as a gaming platform,"
Be my guest. As for me and every single one of my league-mates, we will stay because it's the best free website for fantasy sports...period...and I'm MORE than sure that more people on FF than not feel the same way.
They have been good to me and all the questions I ask. Agree that you may join too many shady leagues. Seriously dude you are in 27 leagues. How do you keep track of them? Seems to me you truly love this place deep down in your heart.
