I want poll members here on a subject that seems to make some members mad and others ok with!!
I commish a few leagues where I will set the lineups for members who didn't check in or are inactive!! I usually wait til 12;30 pm on Sunday to do this. Now this is for ONLY their Bye players and feel this is fair to other owners as it brings parity to the league!!
I believe no owner should get a easy win do to inactive owner or a owner that forgot about their byes!!
What do you think??
This will help me set rules for next season and aldo keep leagues intact for next season!!
Remember only byes and for owners who are inactive or not signed in for a couple of days!!
As a commissioner its okay to email reminders but not cool to adjust rosters. Sounds like you need to get more owners that are as serious as you about playing. I feel your pain, but dont change rosters.
I wish all commishes would do it. Nice if flea would have a start best players option to take the heat off the commish. Someone has mentioned this to the gods ( ME ) but nothing yet.
I'll weigh in. I play for enjoyment and the challenge - I'd rather beat a team that is "active" than one that is dead. I would rather lose a close, exciting game than win a walkover. I support RWK & NC Giant position - and would support others if they are consistent in the way they do it.
I'm no expert, just someone that enjoys the challenge and has fun.
You and I have discussed this in the past. My position is that it's OK to do for inactive(over 14 days not signed in) or abandoned teams, not for owners who just forgot or didn't care that week. My guidelines are:
1. I only replace bye week or injured players(those who have definitely been ruled out).
2. I use whoever the first name available is for the position from their bench. If there is no player available, then I don't make a change.
3. I do not pick up free agents to fill the lineup.
4. I inform the league about what I am doing so there can be no dispute.
I've been lucky in the leagues I run to have done this rarely, but the active owners understand and appreciate it.
man, i cant believe what i read in the other posts.
dear rick.....aka cowboy fan........have you always wished to play GOD, because thats what your doing. As for myself, I leave the lineup alone, because most owners would think that your trying to either help yourself out or one of your buddies.
the fact that the team is abandoned is just that, you have the opportunity to invite another owner, if the team is so bad, most wont except it anyways. who wants to tarnish their win - loss record........most dont.....except for you Rick.
i have a league where there are 2 teams that are 4-2, but no one has taken a bite at them, yet there are 8 other teams who still manage their teams of which 4 have losing records. how is it fair to them that i invite new owners to take over for the last 3 weeks of the season and then they win it and the guys whove busted their azz to put a lineup together each week get fuzzed(<<<you know the F word).
no, as the commish, im gonna make sure those two winning teams dont make the playoffs, who wants a league champion who isnt present to except the trophy.........oh they'll get credit for it on their account, but that makes the thing just a big JOKE.
there are some of us(not including me), who have 30 teams(including you rick), who want to see that trophy case filled up.......hey look at me, im a fantasy football guru..........it only took me having 30 teams to win 3 trophy, but hey IM GOOD............lol
no...........leave the parity to fate............ok GOD.............
P.S. In two of the leagues, the owner in question (who I released the other day), beat me, yes I put active players in their lineup and lost from it, but it showed her team was better!!

So, is fair:
A team who usually checks their schedule but forgets one week, leaves byes in, and therefore suffers?
Or a team that has dropped off the radar and gets freebies by getting byes covered.
The team that is paying more attention gets the penalty.

I help alot of commish's leagues fill out their leagues, but I guess thats wrong, right??
I love fantasy football and don't care about winning THAT much!!
And never said I was a guru!! Or did I say anything about owners who come in after week ten, but I'm wrong on that too!!
Sorry if I sound like I'm making fun, but you are pushing a little when all I asked was what members thought, not about me!!

Come on Rick, don't fall into Quix's trap. He just wants to start an argument with you.
