P. Thomas is on bye this week and I'm left with five decent backs but they face really tough defenses. The match-ups stink! Please give me your advice. I need to start 2.
C. Benson vs BAL (1)
T. Jones vs MIA (2)
K. Smith vs PIT (3)
S. Slaton vs ARI (6)
J. Jones vs JAC (12)
The numbers in parenthesis represent the defense's rank against the rush...ouch right?
I think Slaton should be the first back. He hasn't had the greatest year so far, but he is bound to turn it around soon and this may be the week.
The second back is a bit harder to pick. I would either go with Benson or Smith. The Jones brothers have been too inconsistent this year. I think Benson is worth the gamble. He had a pretty good game against Pittsburgh earlier this season (81 total yards and a TD) and the Bengals always play tough against Baltimore (except the one blowout last season when they didn't have Palmer in the lineup).
Damn man....pick up Mendenhall if you can yet, mr. harrisson with cleveland should be good as they're lookin at rain and nobody to throw at anymore with Edwards not there to take away secondary attention......Ummm otherwise dude Take a risk with Benson....I have him on my bench this week though cause i took the liberty in getting who i just said but we know this game isn't all about ratings and numbers on paper.....its about instinct and luck.....Benson is a powerhouse that has proven himself week to week.......
The bengals need to get their pass game open somehow...so if benson is good to go on sunday start him....Think of it this way.....
Pack stuffed Peterson.....and yet Benson somehow ran them over....

I'd say slaton and benson as well. at least you know the bengals will stick with the run and give him opportunities.

Thanks Tug. You make a strong argument. With Mendenhall or Harrison were available but they're not... I'm really stewing over this one...
