as a 30-yr-old lifelong braves fan, i have many fond memories of andre dawson, who was elected to the hall of fame today on his 9th try.

in his prime, dawson's talent was matched by only bonds (pre-steroids) who were both 5-tool players.

the closest thing we have to dawson in this generation is vlad guerrero, in his prime (with both knees intact); ironically, they both spent their best years in anonymity playing in montreal.

hawk made me wanna play right field when i wasn't pitching. i was small and fast but i had an arm.

i wanted to chase down flies like him and overthrow the cutoff man for a play at the plate because i could. because he would.

thanks, hawk.
