Trading
Trading is encouraged, and allowed between any teams, regardless of which League they are in (AL/NL). Three-team trades are also allowed. All trades must be approved by the commissioner. Most trades will be approved within 24 hours, but if they aren’t please be patient and give us time to do it. If it’s been more than three days, you’re welcome to remind a commissioner about your trade. You may not make a trade that puts you over the salary cap or the player limit, you may drop players to put you under these limits. You may also exchange salary cap money in trades.
The trade deadline will be the Yahoo trade deadline.
Future considerations will not be allowed as part of a trade. (Added : February 15, 2009)
Free Agency
At a pre-determined date prior to each season start, we will begin the Free Agent period. Bidding will be opened for a player by posting a thread in the Free Agency thread indicating player name, MLB team and your starting bid. Other teams have 24 hours to increase the bid on the player noted. Amount has to be increased by a minimum of $1 increments. If the bid is increased on a free agent bid, the 24 hour clock starts again. Only after a full 24 hours has passed may a team may sign the player. The winning owner must then post the contract length for the player both on the original thread and on his roster (up to a 5-year contract). The winning bidder has 72 hours to post the signing and add the player to his roster. If he has not done so within the 72 hour window, the player goes back into the free agent pool. You may not bid on a player if it puts you over the salary cap. You may release a player to make space for the newly signed player, as long as paying the buyout fee doesn't put you over the cap. Free Agency ends following the last day of the MLB regular season. (Edited : Feb. 12, 2012)
Re-Signing Players
When a player’s contract expires, you have a chance to re-sign him before he is released to Free Agency. Each manager is allowed to re-sign THREE players each year, each at +$2 for his annual salary. He may be awarded any contract up to 3 years. This is a change from the rule as it was before, this is to keep the league moving, so no young player (such as David Wright or Ryan Howard) can be kept for 10 years for just $2 (yes, with the old format, that was what would happen).
Buyouts
If you have signed a player, and you no longer want him on your roster, you may pay him 1.5 times his salary, rounded up. Ex. If I have Jose Guillen signed at $5 for 4 years, and I want to remove him from my roster and get his multi-year contract off my salary cap, I must pay him 1.5 times his salary and round it up. I must pay him $7.50, rounded up to $8 for the remainder of this year, but he is no longer on my roster.
If another manager picks up the player you dropped, you are no longer responsible for his buyout fee. (Buyout fee refers to the additional amount paid to remove his contract. The manager is still responsible for his original contract amount until the end of the season.)
If you drop a player, and then bid on him again, you cannot win the player for less than the price you were paying him prior to the buyout. This is to ensure that a team can't drop a player and then just bid on him again to get a better price, since he would be relieved of the buyout fee.
If you want to release a player with a one year contract, you simply drop him, and his salary counts towards your cap for the current season.
Disabled List
You may put up to five players on the DL at any given time. Those players do not count towards your player limit, but do count against the salary cap.
Any player is eligible to be placed on the DL as long as he is on the real-life disabled list. Once on the DL, a player may stay there for the entire season, even if he returns to real-life action. However, once a player comes off the real-life DL, you will not be able to complete any Yahoo transactions until you remove him from your team's DL. You will, however, be able to make intra-roster moves (switching players between bench and active) regardless of a player's DL status. (Edited : Feb. 15, 2009)
If you have a player on the DL, you may bid on a Free Agent to replace him, once the player comes off the DL, you must release a player to maintain your player limit. When you drop the player, you must either follow the Buyout rule above, or if he has a one year contract, you must pay his salary for the rest of the season (it counts towards your cap).
Prospects
Players with less than 150 AB and 50 IP of MLB service in their career prior to the current season are considered Prospects for rule purposes.
Two (2) prospects may be dropped between the end of a season and the start of the next season without penalty against the salary cap. The name of these players shall be listed in the designated section. (Added : February 15, 2009)
Draft and Off-Season
Once a year we will have a Minor league draft lasting two (2) rounds. This is where we will draft the any prospect not on a minor league team or the new group of prospects from that years Amateur Draft. These players CANNOT be bid on in FA until after the draft. The draft order will go by worst to first records. NO foreign players can be drafted until they are signed by a MLB team . Players such as Kenji Johjima who have never had a minor OR major league At-Bat before 2006 are eligible ONLY for the Major League draft. These picks CAN be traded thru out the year
The winner of the consolation final shall receive an extra pick (last pick in the first round) in the following year's Amateur Draft.
Looking for owners to put their GM skills to good use and assume a team in a 10 team dynasty-type format that drafts reserves and rosters minors prospects. It's weekly H2H points. We don't play for big money, though there is a small pot of $100. This league is just guys playing for the love of fantasy. There are a couple open rosters if you think you'd be interested. The fee is waived at this time. It is normally $30.
