hi guys. are you switching Mack from DE to OLB? as i'm sure you're aware, this tanks his value in most IDP formats. i'm wondering how to play this. thanks
Reiterating the problem, he counts as two roster spots and I'm in a league with very low minimums so I am playing with a man short because we can only have two linebackers and two defensive ends and he is taking up two slots this really needs to be addressed
Hello! He's going to be set to DE/LB for the season. You'll be able to start him in either position from week-to-week, and you will get points just for that position.
Here's the reasoning -- as part of Oakland's defense, he had snaps at both defensive end and as an outside linebacker. In Chicago's scheme, he will be listed as an outside pass-rusher in the 3-4, but he is also versatile enough to play with his hand in the ground along the line of scrimmage.
1 issue with that. Hes counting as depth towards both positions and positional requirements. He could essentially count as 2 players and mess up our total roster requirements. A team shouldnt be penalized for his versatility.
Would have been nice if his designation was dependent on the position you played/last played him at.
So to begin the season, he'd have counted as a DE. After week one, if you played him at DE, his designation would remain. If you play him at LB week 1, he's a LB for your position requirements.
Counting him as a DE and a LB cost me valuable LB depth in a league, so that wasn't particularly cool.

That's pretty silly, he clearly plays a LB role in the Bears system.

wouldn't see that DE/LB designation changing for next season then, right? unless he plays exclusively standing up?
