The slowdraft time limit/clock is what everyone I know, that plays, has begged for. Either the ability to auto pick by commish clicked button or autopick after clock expiration. With auto pick using the preranks of the team being drafted for.
Without this there will always be a rift of doubt, frustration, distrust of collusion and people screaming about players taking too long or complaining about the comish cheating because of the pick they had to manually select.
This was needed far more than anything else added over the past five years. And it would be so simple to add. Why hasn't it been done?
After playing FF for 20 years I finally decided to do a custom email league. I had to search this forum to simply find out what the preset time limits were. i agree we would like the ability to set the limits ourselves. This definitely should be addressed on the settings page. this seems to be the only customizing point we cant choose.
Requests like this one definitely help us prioritize the multitude of feature requests we get from members. We do have this feature captured as an open new feature request, and it is something we plan to add, however there are some other more requested, large-scale development features ahead of it in the queue. We totally hear your frustration with not having this feature as an option yet, and we look forward to when we are able to solve the problem for you!
Right now we set a (12) hour on the clock timer, that we have to keep manually.
If an owner goes over the (12) hours, the auto pick is the player with the highest % owned, that is still available.
Depending on what round this happens in the draft, it could be a major penalty. The reason we use this is so it is black and white, nothing subjective based on one Commish's personal player values.
If the site auto picked an owner at 12 hours, and used their personal pre-ranked player list, it would be much more fair.
The sad thing as this drags on year after year is that it should not be a great task to modify the live draft mechanism to work for slow drafts.
I know it is not quite THIS trivial, but...
1) the draft room must take a bit of overhead. So bypass that
2) remove the requirement that someone always be "physically" present
3) make the timer setable for perhaps up to 24hrs instead of 4 minutes (if there is a heavy system draw checking the timer, put a condition on that... if the timer is more than 4 minutes, check less frequently. If the timer is more than an hour, check every 5 minutes. Etc.)
Now you've got slow drafts that can be (ahem) scheduled ahead of time so that the poor commish doesn't have to necessarily be present to start it. You've got autopicking if the timer expires. When you abstract the deatils out just a tiny little bit, there's just really not much fundamentally different between a "live' draft and a "slow" draft. The time is L.O.N.G.E.R. but the process is the same.
