My league does a keeper draft in which we lose the draft pick for the round the keeper was originally selected in. It is my understanding that the site by default will add your keepers to your team at the end of the draft, thus ruining our draft plan. So i believe i have figured a way around it and i wanted to share it with others as well as find out if anyone else has tried this and does it work.

As commissioner, i have the ability to go in and remove draft picks in each round from whoever i need to. So i think what i can do is make my draft 3 rounds longer than i actually want it to be, and then go in and take out the picks for the rounds the keepers should be in. So if i am keeping my 4th,7th, and 11th round picks from last year, i can go in and remove my picks in those rounds this year and then the site will add my keepers during the extra 3 rounds i added to the draft.

So i want a 17 round draft, i make it 20 rounds, and then by taking out the 3 picks i will only have 14 players through 17 rounds and then the site puts my 3 keepers back in rounds 18-20. This gives me my 17 players and i lost the picks in the rounds that i was supposed to.

Does anyone know if this will work? Has it been tried? Is this the only way to alter the draft so that teams lose picks in certain rounds? Thanks for the help.

I would like to do this as commissioner of my league too. But I don´t find the option to do this. Where or at which point may I delete the picks of the specific rounds?

Oh, we want to do a live draft. May I do the settings before the draft or "live" during the draft?

And, in our league the keeper rule is: If you keep a player, you have to give up a pick two rounds higher than last year´s pick. So, if someone likes to keep a player drafted in round 8 in 2008, he has to give up his 6th round pick in 2009.

Thanks!

That works but you don't have to add extra rounds, we automatically add them for you.

The draft doesn't end until all teams have full rosters.

In your example, you want rosters of 17 players, 3 of which are keepers.

A team may keep up to 3 players. If a team doesn't keep 3 players, they get extra picks at the end of the draft.

Using commish options, delete the picks of each team according to which players they keep.

So if I'm keeping Tom Brady, drafted in the first round, delete my first rounder and I'll automatically be compensated with an extra pick at the end of the draft (18th round).

That's all you need to do. You can double-check that this works by clicking on your league's draft order page.

Thanks for this. I was about to ask the same question, having inherited a couple of leagues with this set-up. You guys are really doing a great job.

This seems like an OK workaround, but not quite ideal. Would it be at all possible to add the capability to enter players into certain draft positions before the draft? This makes it much easier for drafters to see which keepers are unavailable during the draft... no mistakenly drafting players that someone else is keeping.
