Hey guys,

I run a 10 man ppr keeper league that we have added two new expansion owners to. As a league we have decided that we would like to add an extra pick somewhere between rounds 3-5 for the new owners. Is there a way to do this within fleaflicker's online draft? If not, what would be the best way to handle this? Am I able to pause the draft and remove a player from the available player list, or simply place a player on an owner's roster? I am aware of the commish draft option, but that won't really work in this situation. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Since we use our roster size to determine draft picks, I think your best bet here (if you're very keen on doing this) is to do the following:

1) Add to your total roster size by 1 -- this will add a round to your draft.

2) Edit the draft order manually and you can go into that round somewhere between 3-5 and delete every team's pick but the expansion owners and then every team will have an extra draft pick at the end of the draft in the final round assuming all keep the same amount of keepers, etc.

3) As commish in that last round, or the extra pick that you generated, just draft a retired or inactive player and then just remove them from the rosters and then change back your roster size by 1 after the draft and when the player is removed.

hmmm... Okay, I think I can deal with that. But doing so poses another question- and honestly, this is more of an opinion question than a technicality question (and also one that I hadn't really thought of, so thanks for bringing it up). We determine our keeper draft values by the round that they were drafted in the previous year (with a one year grace period). For example:

If you draft a player in the 4th round this year (2013 draft), that player's draft value will be a 4th round draft pick in the 2014 draft. However, that player's draft position in the 2015 draft will increase to a 3rd round pick. In the 2016 draft, that player's draft position will increase once again, costing you a 2nd round pick, etc. In effect, there is a one year "grace period" after you acquire a player before their draft value starts increasing.

If we insert, for lack of a better term, a "false" round into the draft to realize the compensatory picks, what would be the best way to determine the potential draft values of those picks going forward?

Ultimately it is up to you. I would make believe that "compensatory" round did not exist for non-expansion teams and that round 5 would be round 4 for other teams if you put the two picks in round 4 for the expansion teams -- then I would have the round 4 expansion picks count as round 4 also for next year (so the next year all teams make believe that extra round did not exist).

I expanded my league from 12-14 and instead of doing what you are talking about, I'm just having an expansion draft of the available/eligible players that weren't selected as keepers.
