It's week 13 and playoffs start week 14 in my league . As commish I need to be able to lock the rosters of those teams that are eliminated from playoff contention to prevent them from adding/claiming/cutting players. This prevents an irate GM from blowing up their team and dropping their best players because they didn't make the postseason. It also ensures that free agents and players on waivers are available to those that are playing for something and are not being picked up by a team that gains nothing by modifying their roster.
Our league has done this every year and it always seems to be a necessity. I don't see an option on FleaFlicker to accomplish this. Kindly advise / recommend / provide alternatives.
I've also made this request to FF and was told the same BS. 'Great idea. We'll look into it'. That was over 10 yts ago. This would not be a difficult code change. Our league has had the same issue with sore losers whp drop top 10 stud players out of spite.
Details aside, the overall feedback suggests that this is a feature that would benefit most leagues. The minimal functionality would provide the commish the ability to lock any individual roster preventing add/claim/cut/trade modification (lineup change and other individual team management functions would not be effected). Hopefully we'll see it in time for the next fantasy football draft.
Along these lines, does FleaFlicker publish changes such as this one in a "Release Notes" type article anywhere? It would be great to be able to pull up a webpage prior to the draft that shows any changes to the application since the previous season/release.
Commish can remove the owner's of teams that did not make the postseason then delete their teams from the league. All their rostered players will be put back in the free agent pool so to prevent teams in the playoffs from picking them up commish can create a new placeholder team owned and maintained by the commish and import all their players to the new team. In my league the new team for whatever reason was in the playoff bracket and was top seed so the commish also needs to re-seed the playoff bracket.
A couple of downsides though. All the statistics from the deleted teams are lost for good along with the rosters so they obviously can't be referenced in the future. Also, Team > Future Picks may no longer be accurate. These are the complications I noticed, there may be others.
UGH! Thanks for the quick response, but that would be quite a task. For instance, a team that doesn't make the playoffs has the best waiver priority and puts a claim in for Westbrook this week along with every other team in the league. I'd have to go back and figure out where each claimed player should have gone based on each team's WP and claim list, modifying every team's roster in the process? Complicated to say the least, if not impossible.
It would suck if this problem happens this late in the season because this feature is lacking. Is it possible to remove the owner of the team without deleting the team itself?
Individual roster locking would seem to be a necessary operation. Is this a feature that you would consider (or is already being considered) for an upcoming release?
I agree, this would be a great feature. Maybe once playoffs start have a feature to block teams not in playoffs from adding/dropping, pretty much just put a freeze on non playoff teams' rosters.
Yeah it's really a necessary feature. Just yesterday I was forced to delete a team from our league because this feature is not available. I had requested that anyone not making the playoffs in our league please let the waiver wire for the playoff teams - no adding/claiming/cutting. Here's a guy that didn't make the playoffs and he's bitter about sucking so he made some claims anyway and in the process he took a player that was on @ least one other playoff team's claim list. A verbal message-board war ensued and I had to boot him out 3 times and delete 4 posts before I was able to figure out how to change the league password because he kept taking ownership of the unowned team right after I'd remove him. Lots of choice words were said and I ended up having to ban him from my leagues for life. Yeah it's extremely childish, yet the guy is 43 yrs old. And the topper is he's my own brother!
All this could have been avoided if roster-locking was an available feature, and it seems every year there's a bitter loser that will break the rules if the rules are not enforceable. It's caused a huge distraction in my league and now of course people are threatening not joining my league if I host it on FleaFlicker and individual roster locking is still not available next season. With that I'll add this feature request to the Site Suggestions forum. I'm a fan of FleaFlicker and definitely want to continue hosting my leagues here so hopefully you can get it added by next July - it will definitely save commissioners' time and aggravation!
Agreed you have one guy who is not on the fantasy part of the football league and the whole league suffers. Good option as well as more customization for playoff have a consolation bracket that if you lose on the main bracket you can go to the consolation and work your way back to the main playoff bracket by winning. Also would help to not have to worry about locking my roster after the season resets and you make trades before the draft and lose them when the draft starts because owners have to relock them after the trade to make sure they do not lose them.
& in yet another league, which I run not on FF, we do lock some teams not in the playoffs, but not all due to different categories that may still be played for. all I am saying is don't limit it for no reason. as with all software, the more people you can please in an easy manner will always be a benefit for their company. it is all part of the same programming, no need in saving 15 minutes of coding when you can please a much higher # of people with the flexibility of control.
I would prefer this option to be available even if not during the playoffs. My league uses a playoff format that FF doesn't support so we have to turn playoffs off & manually set the match-ups each week. We definitely need this option right now! hehe

FF support is a joke.

Easiest way to fix this is to be able to edit the can't cut list. Lets go FleaFlicker!

Here's a workaround although it's not pretty.
Commish can remove the owner's of teams that did not make the postseason then delete their teams from the league. Like I said, it's sloppy but viable.

There is no way to lock individual teams -- only the league in general. You can always go back and edit rosters to undo any changes that were made.

It is definitely a good suggestion, it is something we hope to have added soon

This is only worth even looking at in 'redraft' leagues.
In 'Keeper' leagues, anyone can gain by claiming even at the end of the season.
darksideofozFri 12/17/10 12:12 PM
not all leagues have the same rules. i am in a keeper league (not on FF), that locks add/drops for the fantasy playoffs.
TechySat 12/18/10 1:23 AM
a 100% transaction lock is a completely different animal from locking only non playoff teams.

2010? What a joke.

Yeah, I guess "hope to add soon" did not come to fruition. 11 years ago. Come on. I like Flea Flicker, but it has its flaws.
EwokCommishThu 12/23/21 11:26 AM
Major flaws, its almost like its a deprecated ghost project and the single dev that maintains it has other things going on.
