Rice is not on a current NFL team, so when a player is not on a current NFL team, we do not denote him an injury or suspended status (we followed this with Vick and Burress as well). If a team were to pick him up, he would be listed as suspended, But as long as he's unsigned in the NFL, we don't denote those players any statuses.
It's the way our system works with player listings. In the future, we will reconsider, but for this year, if the player is not on a team, he will not have an injury or suspended designation tagged to him.
Ya, this doesn't make sense to me either. It'd be nice if he was changed to Free Agent status and then we could include that option for the IR or something like that.
It does make sense in that he is currently not employed by the NFL. The NFL cannot suspend someone who is not a member of the league. If/ when Rice signs with a NFL team, the NFL can suspend him and he will be IR eligible in Flea leagues.
Still doesn't make sense to me. Fleaflicker said they will reconsider so I wanted to let them know OP isn't the only one who thinks the way the current system works is flawed. And since the NFL has suspended Rice so he can't be a current member of the league, I'm not sure what your last 2 sentences mean. But you're in nearly 20 leagues so you probably know better than everyone else, right?
"The NFL cannot suspend someone who is not a member of the league" - wrong, this is the exact situation he is currently in. If his suspension was an exact number of games rather than indefinite, then those suspended games would not be removed until he was on a roster for that number of games

Why is Ray Rice not listed as out:suspended so that I can put him on my IR?

That doesn't make sense to me, as he is in fact suspended, why does the fact that he's not on a team matter?
