Defenseman Marc-Andre Gragnani scored a goal for Charlotte in a 2-1 victory over San Antonio Sunday.
Gragnani is a highly skilled, offensive-minded blueliner that has seen his share of time in the NHL, but his defensive game leaves something to be desired. He has recorded an impressive 14 points in 20 games this season.

Marc-Andre Gragnani was an assist-machine with four in Charlotte's 6-4 win over Grand Rapids on Friday night.
Production at the AHL level has never been a problem for Gragnani. He has eight points (all helpers) in six games. Over 73 NHL games, the 25-year-old has 18 points. He needs to start translating his AHL success over to where it really counts.

Marc-Andr Gragnani is looking for a fresh start after a solid training regimen this summer in the Montral, Qubec area.
Gragnani skated in organized games with Vancouver forward Maxime Lapierre every Friday and even developped a certain chemistry with Tony Mel on the one-timers during these scrimmages. Gragnani had a few moments with the Sabres in 2011, but has fallen off the fantasy radar ever since. He still however could have some fantasy value left in the tank and will start the season with the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League.

Marc-Andre Gragnani didn't receive a qualifying offer from the Canucks on Monday.
The defenseman played in 14 games (but didn't crack the playoff lineup) after being acquired with Zack Kassian in the deal that sent Cody Hodgson to the Sabres. Gragnani has played in 80 career NHL games, just one game shy of the minimum needed for players 25 and older with three years of pro experience to automatically become an unrestricted free agent. Gragnani had 15 points on the year, earning $550,000.

Marc-Andre Gragnani will be a healthy scratch Saturday night against the Blue Jackets.
He will sit in the press box with Andrew Alberts and give way to Aaron Rome, who will dress for the first time in four games. Bench Gragnani for Saturday only as there is a very good chance he will play in at least eight of Vancouver's last 12 games. If he does not play in at least eight more games this season, he will become a free agent, an outcome the Canucks will surely seek to avoid.
