Ben Eager made some nasty threats to the Canucks a couple of days after two Edmonton players were victimized by Vancouver skaters.
He told Sportsnet's Mark Spector: "We play them a lot down the stretch, and we're going to go after their skill players also." The Oilers are clearly still fuming after Dale Weise went after Taylor Hall with a high hit and Zack Kassian's stick broke the jaw of Sam Gagner during Saturday's preseason contest.

Signed as free-agent three years ago, Ben Eager hadtrouble gaining traction with Edmonton but a a job on the Oilers' bottom two lines is the left winger's to lose now.
The key is proving to head coach Dallas Eakins and the rest of the coaching staff that he can still be an effective big-bodied, physical presence. So far, so good, sources say. In both of his previous two seasons with Edmonton, Eager suffered early concussions, which set him back. Many figured his days with the Oilers were over after being put on waivers by the club last season. However, when Eager went unclaimed, he began the road to redemption, working his way from AHL Oklahoma City back into the Oilers' good graces.

Ben Eager is going to get a chance to crack the Oilers' lineup next season.
He was sent to the AHL during the season and has one year left on his contract. He could provide Edmonton with some extra grit. "I think Ben is at the 'show-me' stage," said Oilers general manager Craig MacTavish, adding a job is his to win, not lose. "He's not going to be given the job and have to prove that he can't do it. He has to really have a good training camp and really make a case to Dallas (Eakins) that he's going to be able to contribute in those areas."
