Lessio signed with Russian club Medvescak Zagreb on Friday, TSN reports.

Lessio had his 2015-16 campaign cut short due to a knee injury, and subsequently failed to re-up with the Habs when he became a restricted free agent this summer. While he was not short on fanfare as LA's second-round pick in the 2011 draft, Lessio fell short of his lofty billing as a gifted offensive producer with wheels. In fact, the 23-year-old only produced seven points in 41 games between the Coyotes and Canadiens, plus he had a minus-11 rating over three years.

He was activated Wednesday while veteran Tomas Fleischmann was a healthy scratch, a sure sign that head coach Michel Therrien is getting a look at the younger players in the organization as the team's playoff hopes fade.
