Flyers prospect Eric Wellwood said his main goal is to walk again after suffering major tendon and ligament damage when his lower leg was cut by a skate. Wellwood got the cast off his leg Thursday and officially began rehab on the injury, which occurred during an April 7 game with the Flyers' AHL affiliate. Although Wellwood hopes to play hockey again, he said his main goal is simply to be able to walk. Wellwood said doctors had never seen an injury of this nature before, meaning there's no real timetable for his recovery. It could be quite a while before he returns to the ice.

He's talking, even skated off the ice under his own power," said Kyle. "He had his first surgery to sew up his artery and there are a couple of tendons that are cut, so he's going to have to have a second surgery with a specialist." Eric Wellwood was recalled from the minors Tuesday. He served as a healthy scratch against the Rangers though. He has generated six goals and six assists in 43 games with Adirondack of the AHL and has appeared in four contests with the Flyers in 2013.
