Tyrell wasn't extended a qualifying offer by the Blue Jackets on Monday and will become an unrestricted free agent. Tyrell appeared in three games for the Blue Jackets early last season, but otherwise languished at AHL Springfield, where he tallied 13 goals and 26 points in 51 games. The 26-year-old figures to spend most of 2015-16 in the minors.

Tyrell was assigned to AHL Springfield on Sunday. Tyrell averaged 6:56 of ice time in three contests with the Jackets, but failed to post a point and fired just one shot on net. His assignment could indicate Jack Skille is ready to return from a head injury.

Tyrell was recalled from AHL Springfield on Saturday. With rookie Marko Dano struggling to bring much offense in recent contests, the Blue Jackets deciding to send him to the minors to regain some confidence, bringing up Tyrell in his stead. The 25-year-old Tyrell had an impressive five goals and nine points over seven games with Springfield, but he'll likely struggle to contribute anywhere close to that point production in a bottom-six role with Columbus.

Tyrell was waived by the Blue Jackets on Thursday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports. After losing out on his quest to win a checking-line role with the Blue Jackets, Tyrell will more than likely ply his trade in the minors upon clearing waivers.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed forward Dana Tyrell to a one-year, two-way contract. Tyrell's contract is worth $650,000 at the NHL level and he's been guaranteed a minimum of $150,000 for the 2014-15 season. Tyrell was chosen in the second round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning and broke into the NHL in 2010-11 with six goals and 15 points in 78 contests but he hasn't played in more than 26 NHL games in a single season since he was a rookie. He has 24 points in 132 career games.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have traded Dana Tyrell and Matt Taormina to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Jonathan Marchessault and Dalton Smith. Tyrell has nine goals and 21 points in 44 AHL games this season. At the age of 24, he has 24 points and 26 penalty minutes in 132 career NHL contests.

Dana Tyrell has been reassigned to AHL Syracuse. Tyrell has no points in seven games with Tampa Bay this season. He also hasn't been much of an offensive threat in the minors.

Dana Tyrell played his first game of the season for Tampa Friday night. He was summoned from the AHL Tuesday but did not play in Wednesday's game. Tyrell had 9:17 of ice time against the Penguins Friday night skating alongside Nate Thompson and B.J. Crombeen on the Bolt's fourth line. Despite the fact that Tyrell had two hits and impressed coach Jon Cooper with his play, he has no fantasy value.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have summoned Dana Tyrell. Tyrell has three goals and four points in 16 AHL games this season. He also has seven goals and 24 points in 125 career contests with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Dana Tyrell was forced to evacuate his home Thursday night ahead of the major flooding, which impact several communities in southern Alberta. "My condo is right next to the Saddledome," Tyrell said. "It's crazy. I've never seen anything like it." The Saddledome reportedly had water filled up to the 10th row of seats. Tyrell said his condo, which sits on the 17th floor, won't be damaged by the flooding, but for now he has to live with his parents in Airdrie, Alberta because "everything is shut down."
