Bourque announced his retirement from professional hockey Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Bourque spent most of his playing days in the AHL and overseas, but he did draw into 51 NHL contests over the course of his 18-year career, picking up eight points over that span.

Bourque inked a contract with EHC Munchen (DEL) on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Bourque spent the 2018-19 campaign with AHL Bridgeport, for which he racked up 15 goals and 39 helpers, but didn't show team brass enough to earn an NHL contract. The winger will return to Europe for the first time since 2013-14, when he was playing in Switzerland with EHC Biel-Bienne. At this point, this likely marks the end of the 33-year-old's NHL career after he played in 51 games for Washington, Pittsburgh and Boston, in which he notched two goals, six helpers and 18 PIM.

Bourque was put on waivers by the Capitals on Friday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bourque is in his second stint with Washington, as he last played for them in one game during the 2009-10 season. While with AHL Hershey the past year, the 30-year-old had one of his most productive campaign on his way to 30 goals and 50 assists. If not other teams put in a claim, the winger will be assigned back to Hershey, but could be in line for a call-up or two if the Caps get bit by the injury bug.

Bourque signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Capitals on Thursday. Bourque recorded 29 goals and 37 assists with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL during the 2014-15 season. His goals total was good enough to tie for fifth in the AHL during that span. With the Capitals being the parent club of the AHL's Hershey Bears, Bourque will likely see the majority of his time there moving forward. He's quite familiar with them though, considering he's played with the Bears in 392 of his 510 career regular-season AHL games.

Bourque has 14 goals and 20 points in 33 games played with Hartford of the AHL. With the organization sending Anthony Duclair back to juniors for the rest of the season, the veteran minor-leaguer's chances of getting the call-up increase ever so slightly. While there's very little chance he'll garner more than third or fourth line minutes, there's even less chance he'll be able to re-produce his production at the NHL level any time soon or possibly at all.

Bourque was assigned to AHL Hartford on Wednesday. After spending the 2013-14 campaign overseas, Bourque wasn't able to earn a role with the parent club out of training camp. He'll have to prove his worth at AHL Hartford before getting a shot with the Rangers.

Chris Bourque has signed with the Boston Bruins. The terms of the agreement weren't immediately available. Bourque had a goal and four points in 18 games with Boston in 2013. After that he spent a season in Europe, recording 13 points in 21 Swiss league games and another two points in 11 KHL contests.

Chris Bourque has signed a contract with Ak Bars Kazan of Russia's Kontinental Hockey League. Bourque is currently traveling with the Bruins' Black Aces squad during the Stanley Cup final, which makes the timing of this report strange. However, Bourque has played in the KHL before and was likely ticketed for the AHL next season after being waived by the Bruins earlier this season. We'll update if anything becomes official.

Chris Bourque has successfully cleared waivers. Bourque has a goal and three assists in 18 contests with the Boston Bruins this season. He's expected to return to the AHL, where he is a superstar. It wouldn't be surprising to see him get at another shot in the NHL, maybe even this season, but we doubt he'll ever have any fantasy value.

Chris Bourque has been waived by the Boston Bruins. Bourque has a goal and four points in 18 games this season. He's excelled in the minors, but his battle to secure a permanent spot with an NHL club continues at the age of 27.
