Kennedy was a late scratch for the game Tuesday with an upper-body injury, according to Newsday's Arthur Staple. There is no word yet on when Kennedy suffered the injury, as he was believed to be fully healthy when the Islanders acquired him from the Sharks prior to Monday's trade deadline. Obviously, this isn't an ideal start for Kennedy's stint with the Islanders, but the team appears to be considering him day-to-day at this time. Kael Mouillierat will remain in the lineup with Kennedy unavailable.

Kennedy will begin his Islander career on the second line, according to the Islanders web site. Kennedy won't remain on the second line for long. With the Islanders suffering some injuries they need Ryan Strome to center the third line so for now Kennedy will play on a line with Michael Grabner and Frans Nielsen but this will be changed as players like Kyle Okposo, Casey Cizikas and Mikhail Grabovski come off of IR.

The Islanders acquired Kennedy from the Sharks on Monday in exchange for a conditional third-round draft pick, Newsday's Arthur Staple reports. Kennedy, who recorded four goals and five assists in 25 games for the Sharks this season, will boost the Islanders' depth up front, though a wait-and-see approach is in order from a fantasy perspective until his linemates/role with his new team are solidified.

Kennedy assisted on John Scott's goal in the Sharks' 3-1 loss to the Flames on Wednesday. After missing three straight games to conclude January due to injury, Kennedy has returned to provide an assist in each of his two February contests. While Kennedy's four goals and nine points in 20 games this season are serviceable by bottom-six forward standards, that level of production won't be helpful to many fantasy owners.

Kennedy looks like he'll draw back into the lineup for Monday's game against the Oilers, according to Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area. Kennedy missed time again with his fourth injury of the season. This time he only missed three games, but it's been a tough season for Kennedy, who hasn't performed well when he has been in the lineup.

Kennedy (lower body) was able to take part in Saturday's morning skate, but won't be a lineup option for the Sharks' tilt with the Blackhawks, David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News reports. Kennedy is reportedly dealing with muscle spasms in the lower-body injury, the fourth unique ailment he's had to deal with this season. The winger declined to put an estimate on a potential return date, but if he continues to practice without much pain over the next couple of days, he could be ready to go for Monday's match against Edmonton.

Kennedy (unspecified issue) was not at Wednesday's morning skate, according to David Pollak of the Mercury News. Kennedy -- who has seven points in 18 games to date -- skated Tuesday, so it's unclear if his absence Wednesday is injury or maintenance-related.

Kennedy played for the first time since December 6 on Tuesday, registering one shot and a plus-1 rating in a win over Arizona. Kennedy's season, an important one for his career after a couple of down years, has been derailed by injuries. Two extended injuries have kept him out of all but 14 games just past the season's mid-point. He has three goals and two assist in those 14 games.

Kennedy (shoulder) was activated from injured reserve Tuesday. Kennedy absorbed contact at Monday's practice and was given clearance by doctors to return to game action. He'll replace Andrew Desjardins (personal) on the Sharks' fourth line for their game Tuesday in Arizona.
