Tim Kennedy was recalled by the Florida Panthers so that he could play in Thursday's 3-0 loss to Buffalo. Florida needed some extra help because Shawn Matthias and Sean Bergenheim were both sidelined. Kennedy had a minus-two rating in 14:09 minutes of playing time. He's worth keeping an eye on as he could surprise some people if he gets top-six minutes, although that's a big if.

Tim Kennedy has been waived by the Florida Panthers. Kennedy will start the season in the minors if he clears waivers. He had 12 goals and 49 points in 67 AHL contests in 2010-11. He might get a chance to play with the Panthers at some point during the season, but he won't have any fantasy value.

Tim Kennedy has performed well in exhibition play in his attempt to stick with the Panthers out of training camp. He potted the game-winning goal in Monday's win over Nashville and he collected two assists in Saturday's loss to Tampa Bay. Kennedy is in tough for a roster spot though with Shawn Matthias, Michal Repik, Evgeny Dadonov and Ryan Carter also vying for a role with the big club. The Panthers will have some difficult decisions to make shortly.

Tim Kennedy's one-year contract with the Panthers is a two-way deal. Perhaps his relationship with new Florida head coach Kevin Dineen, who he played under with Portland in the AHL during the 2008-09 season, will help him stick with the big club out of training camp. Kennedy recorded 67 points in 73 games that year, so Dineen should have an idea of what he can bring to the table.

Tim Kennedy has agreed to a contract extension with the Florida Panthers. Kennedy scored 12 goals and 49 points in 67 AHL games last season. He spent the 2009-10 season with the Buffalo Sabres, but they decided to make him a free agent rather than accept his arbitrator award deal. The New York Rangers ended up signing him prior to the 2010-11 season and he was eventually sent to Florida as part of the Bryan McCabe deal. He isn't expected to have any fantasy value next season, but he might make the Panthers opening game roster.
