Vanek dished out a career-best four assists -- including one on the power play -- in Tuesday's 7-2 win over Toronto.
EDGE Analysis
Vanek had produced just one point in his first five games with the Panthers, but he finally flashed the skills that enticed Florida to part with young blueliner Dylan McIlrath and a conditional third-rounder for him at the trade deadline here. While the 33-year-old winger is far from fleet of foot at this point, his world-class hands have Vanek over the 40-point mark for the 12th consecutive season since he cracked the NHL in 2005-06.

Vanek was traded to the Panthers by the Red Wings for a third-round pick Wednesday, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reports.
EDGE Analysis
The first noteworthy deal of deadline day sees the Red Wings get a seemingly disappointing return for the 33-year-old winger, who's had a resurgent season in Detroit with 38 points in 48 games. It's not clear where Vanek might fit into the Panthers' forward mix, but he could conceivably overtake Reilly Smith for second-line minutes at right wing.

Vanek is in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Canucks, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Vanek's name was swirling around in the NHL trade winds leading up to the deadline, and there was speculation he might be held out of Tuesday's game as a precaution to keep the valuable trade chip healthy. However, he is playing, so apparently the Austrian veteran is staying put in Motown.

Vanek is arguably Detroit's most attractive player available for trade, therefore, he may be held out of the lineup Tuesday night against the Canucks to avoid an injury, the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Vanek is no stranger to the injury bug, so the idea of scratching him in order to preserve his health makes a lot of sense in terms of maximizing his trade value. The Austrian is sure to draw interest as a pending unrestricted free agent who has revived his career in the Motor City, netting a team-high 15 goals and 11 power-play points through 47 games. Vanek is also quite affordable as a rental player cashing in the balance of a $2.6 million deal. It's best to keep Vanek reserved until more is known about his potential landing spot.

Vanek is "certain to be dealt as a rental" by next Wednesday's trade deadline, MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
With GM Ken Holland in an unfamiliar position of knowing that the Wings are likely to miss the playoffs for the first time in 26 seasons, Vanek is one of the leading candidates to move on from Detroit, and he qualifies as a rental player since he'll be an unrestricted free agent this summer. Vanek went from being bought out by the Wild in the offseason to establishing himself as the most productive scoring option on the Wings -- he has 15 goals in 47 games. It'll be interesting to see who would come to the Motor City in a Vanek deal; based on how this season has played out, a power-play defenseman should rank near the top of the team's wish list.

Vanek (ankle) will play Wednesday against the Blues, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Vanek will return to a top-six role Wednesday, skating with Frans Nielsen and Andreas Athanasiou on the Red Wings' second line, and should also see time on the man advantage as part of Detroit's second power-play unit. The 33-year-old winger has been an extremely pleasant surprise for the Red Wings and fantasy owners alike this season, racking up 36 points (14 goals, 22 assists) in 43 games, making him a player worth owning in most formats.

Vanek (ankle) will be reevaluated in warmups ahead of Wednesday's home game against the Blues, but Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill expects him to play.
EDGE Analysis
The net-front winger originally told reporters that he'll be fit to play, though the team cautioned that an official decision has yet to be made. While the needle seems to be pointing toward the veteran suiting up, daily players interested in Vanek just might want to hold off on setting lineups until it's clear that he'll be out there against the Notes. Despite already missing 13 games this season, he's second on the team with 36 points -- 14 goals and 22 helpers.

Clarifying an earlier report, Vanek is hoping to suit up against the Blues on Wednesday, but no decision has been made yet, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
If he is given the all clear from the medical staff, Vanek will likely suit up on the Wings' second line, as well as logging time on the power play. In the event the winger can't play, Tomas Jurco figures to be the leading candidate to take his spot in the game-day lineup. Coach Jeff Blashill should provide more information after Wednesday's morning skate.

Vanek (ankle) declared himself fit to play in Wednesday's home game against the Blues, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Austrian's injury was never considered serious, as Sunday's game was the only one he had missed with that particular ailment. However, he's been held out of 12 other contests this season due to groin, hip, and lower-body maladies. Vanek has the Red Wings' longest streaks in assists (four) and points (seven) this campaign, making it vital to the club that these injuries don't disrupt his momentum moving forward. Currently, he's riding a three-game points streak with two goals and two assists over that span.

Vanek (ankle) will miss Sunday's contest in Minnesota, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
With 36 points in 43 games, Vanek has been one of the few bright spots on an otherwise shoddy Red Wings offense. After playing through the injury he sustained in Saturday's 2-1 loss, he wasn't able to go in Minnesota. His next chance to return will come Wednesday against St. Louis.
