Oleksy signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Penguins on Wednesday, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports. Though the Penguins aren't likely suffer as much depletion to their defensive depth as they noticed this past season, Oleksy will provide the team with another body in the event a call-up is needed on the blue line. The 29-year-old is expected to report to AHL Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season, after appearing in 68 games for the Capitals' minor-league affiliate in Hershey in 2014-15.

Oleksy was reassigned to AHL Hershey on Thursday.Oleksy made his season debut with the Capitals last Saturday against the Kings, finishing with a shot on goal and a minus-1 rating. He will head back to AHL Hershey (where he has 13 points and 106 penalty minutes in 44 game this season), as the team has wrapped up its four-game road trip.
