Bergenheim is calling it a career and retiring from professional hockey, Jameson Olive of the Panthers' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bergenheim was playing with Frolunda HC this season, but after four outings, will hang up his skates. The Finn last appeared in the NHL in 2014-15 when he split time between Florida and Minnesota. All told, the winger logged 506 NHL games in which he netted 96 goals, 84 assists and 379 PIM.

Bergenheim was released from his professional tryout agreement Thursday, James Mirtle of TSN 1050 reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bergenheim played last season for Bern SC of the Swiss League where he recorded 13 points over 21 games. However, at 36 years old and having never posted a 30-point plus campaign in his NHL career, the Ducks were apparently not impressed enough to keep him on their active roster. The left winger will now head to free agency.

Bergenheim finalized a professional tryout agreement with Anaheim on Tuesday, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bergenheim, a first-round selection in the 2002 NHL Draft, has never quite lived up to expectations, as he logged his best season back in 2010-11 with Florida. After failing to secure a deal with a team in the NHL, the 32-year-old agreed to terms with Bern SC of the Swiss League and could return there if this tryout doesn't end in a roster spot. Look for the winger to be in a battle with left side player David Booth for that final spot.

Bergenheim will sign a three-year deal with Swiss league SC Bern on Thursday, TSN's Frank Seravalli reports.
EDGE Analysis
After failing to land an NHL gig out of training camp, Bergenheim's deal with the foreign club reportedly includes a clause that will give him the option to opt out of his contract in order to return to the NHL each offseason, plus his net pay apparently would be similar to what he would make in the NHL. Bergenheim, who has appeared in 506 career NHL games, played for both the Panthers and Wild last season, adding nine goals and 10 assists in 56 games between the two squads.

Bergenheim missed Friday's practice with an illness, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Bergenheim has been a healthy scratch for the last two days, so the illness probably won't help his chances of returning to the lineup Saturday against the Red Wings. The Wild are expected to go with a fourth line of Kyle Brodziak, Erik Haula, and Jordan Schroeder on Saturday.

Bergenheim won't play Thursday against the Rangers, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Bergenheim looks to be the odd man out with several Wild forwards returning from injuries.

Bergenheim will likely be a healthy scratch Saturday against the Kings, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Bergenheim will head to the bench with Ryan Carter back from a shoulder injury. It's not clear if Bergenheim is getting a night off amid back-to-back games or if he'll now regularly be a healthy scratch.

Bergenheim scored his ninth goal of the season in Tuesday's win over New Jersey. He had five shots on goal in 11:33 of ice time despite being demoted to the fourth line with Erik Haula and Kyle Brodziak, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Bergenheim had been in slump with no points in six games and was called out for a lack of forechecking by head coach Mike Yeo. Bergenheim was in danger of being a healthy scratch, but his strong outing could get him more ice time.

Bergenheim was on the ice for 12:41 in his Wild debut in Thursday's win over Nashville and had four shots on goal. He skated on the third line with Mikko Koivu and Thomas Vanek, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. It was his first game since Feb. 12 as he'd been a healthy scratch with Carolina before his trade to the Wild. It looks like Bergenheim will get steady top-6 ice time with Minnesota.

Bergenheim will make his Wild debut Thursday against the Predators, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Somewhat surprisingly, Bergenheim is expected to to open the game as a member of the Wild's top trio, slotting in alongside Mikko Koivu and Thomas Vanek. Bergenheim didn't receive much duty in a top-six role during his time with the Panthers this season, which was reflected in his modest totals of eight goals and 10 assists in 39 games. With more dynamic playmakers skating next to him, Bergenheim might have a chance at gaining fantasy relevance outside of merely very deep leagues.
