Lehner was traded to the Sabres, along with David Legwand, on Friday in exchange for the No. 21 pick in the 2015 draft.

Lehner started 24 games for the Senators last season, going 9-12 with a 3.02 GAA. He'll leave a crowded situation in Ottawa to likely step in as the No. 1 goalie for the Sabres. His departure means Craig Anderson will be the Senators' unquestioned No. 1 goalie.

Lehner indicated last week that he was no longer feeling the effects of a concussion and should enjoy a relatively normal offseason, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.

The offseason should be normal in terms of Lehner's training and preparation for the upcoming season, but his future with the Senators remains on shaky ground. After the re-signing of Andrew Hammond and the addition of college goalie prospect Matt O'Connor, the Senators have a surplus of netminders on the roster, which will almost certainly lead the club to trade one of Lehner or Craig Anderson this summer, according to Garrioch. Seven teams have reportedly already inquired about Anderson and Lehner, though the more youthful (and less expensive) Lehner is believed to be the more attractive goalie in the eyes of potential suitors. Still only 23 years old, Lehner could make for a reasonable long-term solution in the net for a number of teams.

Senators GM Bryan Murray said Lehner (concussion) is still experiencing headaches, TSN's Brent Wallace reports.

Lehner had planned to resume working out on the ice in the near future, but with the headaches still surfacing, doctors told the goalie to shut down his activity for another week. The 23-year-old last played Feb. 16 and will head into the offseason facing a murky future, the health concerns notwithstanding. Andrew Hammond's emergence was the story of the second half and Craig Anderson was inked to a pricey extension in August, which could lead the Senators to explore trading Lehner to another club this summer.

Lehner continues to suffer from concussion symptoms, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.

Since Lehner has yet to resume skating since suffering the head injury in a collision with teammate Clarke MacArthur on Feb. 16, the Senators continue to view him as out indefinitely. Despite the lengthy absences of their top two goalies in Lehner and Craig Anderson (hand), the Senators have managed to stay afloat in the race for the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference, due largely to the surprisingly sensational play of No. 3 netminder Andrew Hammond. His emergence may prompt the Sens to carry three goalies if and when Lehner returns from IR.

Coach Dave Cameron announced Friday that Lehner's upper-body injury has been diagnosed as a concussion, Wayne Scanlan of the Ottawa Citizen reports.Cameron confirmed the concussions for both Lehner and forward Clarke MacArthur, who collided with each other during Monday's loss to the Hurricanes. Lehner will remain under the league's concussion protocol until his symptoms begin to subside, but the volatile recovery timetable for the head injury makes it difficult to speculate when he might be cleared to return. Like Lehner, Craig Anderson (hand) also remains listed on injured reserve, leaving Andrew Hammond as the team's primary netminder for the foreseeable future.

Lehner (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Thursday. The transaction will prevent Lehner from returning action for at least Saturday's game against the Panthers, as he won't be eligible for activation until Feb. 24. The Senators haven't provided any indication of a possible return timetable for Lehner, who suffered the injury during a collision with teammate Clarke MacArthur in Monday's loss to the Hurricanes.

Lehner (undisclosed) wasn't present for Wednesday's morning session and won't be available for the game later in the evening against the Canadiens, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports. As anticipated, the Senators will go with Andrew Hammond as their starting goalie for the match, with ECHL call-up Chris Driedger backing him up. It's uncertain at this time if Lehner's injury will keep him out for the Sens' contest over the weekend against the Panthers.

Lehner (unspecified injury) likely won't be available for Wednesday's game against the Canadiens, reports. With Lehner's injury issue slated to be evaluated Tuesday, it looks like Andrew Hammond is in line to get his first NHL start against the Canadiens on Wednesday.

Lehner, who yielded four goals on 31 shots in Monday's loss to the Hurricanes, was forced to leave the contest after the second period due to a collision with teammate Clarke MacArthur, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.Lehner seemed to escape the worst of the collision, as he was able to walk off the ice under his own power. Given his poor play over the first 40 minutes, it's possible he would have been pulled for the final period regardless of his health, but he'll be listed as day-to-day for now. The Senators are already patiently awaiting the return of Craig Anderson (hand) from injured reserve, so if Lehner's ailment forces him out of Wednesday's game against the Canadiens, Andrew Hammond would likely make his first start of the season. The Senators would also have to recall Chris Driedger from ECHL Evansville to serve as Hammond's backup in that scenario.

Lehner surrendered four goals before being pulled in the second period of Monday's 6-3 loss to the Hurricanes.Lehner temporarily returned to the win column against the Oilers on Saturday, but it's been an otherwise rough stretch for the netminder as he's been on the losing side in 10 of his last 13 starts. With starting goalie Craig Anderson (hand) nearing a return, Lehner's run as the top goalie in Ottawa will soon come to an end.
