Martin contributed an assist in Saturday's win over the Coyotes. The 34-year-old usually doesn't offer much production on the offensive end, but even by his usually low standards, he's struggled to provide an impact. Despite playing in 28 more games this season, Martin only has three more points and four shot attempts than he generated in 2013-14.

Martin notched an assist in Thursday's loss to the Blue Jackets. As his appointment to the U.S. Olympic team last winter would suggest, Martin is a quality real-life defenseman, but he's never carried much appeal in fantasy circles. The assist in Thursday's game gives him a pedestrian 14 points in 50 games, dimming much of his value. Aside from a solid plus/minus (plus-14) and a decent total of blocked shots (95), Martin is a below-average contributor in just about every other category.

Martin assisted on the game-winning goal and an empty-netter in Tuesday's 5-3 victory over Winnipeg. He'd gone scoreless in three straight games, but bounced back nicely in this one. Martin's not a huge offensive provider for the Penguins, but he'll come along and get some points here and there in such a productive offense.

Martin had a rare multi-point evening Tuesday, scoring a goal and adding an assist to go with five blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in a 7-2 demolition of Minnesota. He doesn't get on the board often these days, as Martin still hasn't hit double-digit points for the season. This can safely be written off as Martin coming along with his teammates on their offensive binge against the hapless Wild.

Martin (undisclosed) will return to the ice Wednesday against the Bruins. Martin hasn't seen the ice since Dec. 18, but will return to the Penguins' first defensive pairing alongside Kris Letang. The 33-year-old had recorded seven points in 31 contests prior to suffering the injury.

Martin (undisclosed) was activated from injured reserve Wednesday, Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Though coach Mike Johnston wouldn't definitively say that Martin would play Wednesday against the Bruins, the blueliner's activation almost surely indicates that will be the case. With Scott Harrington dispatched to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to open up a roster sport, Martin figures to claim a spot on the top pairing next to Kris Letang. Martin doesn't offer an overwhelming amount of offensive ability, but the Olympian might be the Penguins' top shutdown defender.

Coach Mike Johnston indicated Martin (undisclosed) that even if Martin can't go Wednesday against Bruins, he will play Saturday against the Canadiens, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Martin hasn't been officially ruled out for Wednesday's game either, so it's possible he will return before Saturday as he practiced Tuesday. If he winds up being unavailable Wednesday, either Scott Harrington or Derrick Pouliot would likely draw into the lineup in his place.

Martin (undisclosed) didn't practice with the team Monday but did make an appearance as practice was ending and got in some conditioning drills with assistant coach Gary Agnew, Sam Kasan of the Penguins' official site reports. Martin was aiming for a return Wednesday against the Bruins, but he will likely need to get in a practice session Tuesday for that to be a realistic goal. In the event he is unavailable, the next chance for him to return will come Saturday against the Canadiens.

Martin (undisclosed) is aiming to return to the lineup Wednesday versus the Bruins, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Martin has been on the ice for over a week, and it appears that he's on the cusp of rejoining the team for full practices. The Penguins will continue to assess Martin's condition as he increases his activities, but probably won't want him back in the lineup until he's 100 percent healthy. Martin last played for the Penguins on Dec. 18.

Martin (undisclosed) did not practice Thursday. Martin, who is hoping to make his return this weekend, practiced with the team Tuesday but did not play Wednesday, marking his sixth straight absence. At this point, he should be considered very questionable to play Friday against Tampa Bay.
