Nick Palmieri has been sent down to the AHL by New Jersey. He was a healthy scratch on Monday and hasn't been much of factor in 19 games this season with three goals and three assists. Palmieri registered 17 points in 43 contests with the Devils last year.

Nick Palmieri will dress on Wednesday after being a healthy scratch Monday. "It's a quicker chance at redemption for me," Palmieri said. "It's tough sitting out watching your team play. I'm definitely happy to get an opportunity to redeem myself. In my mind I was thinking I'd be back in tonight, but you never know. It's a coach's decision and he's going to do what is best for the team. Luckily he decided I deserved another chance." He is set to play on the third line with Ryan Carter and David Clarkson.

Nick Palmieri understands why he'll be a healthy scratch on Monday. "This is a pretty clear message from them that I need to be playing better," Palmieri said. "Nothing is guaranteed for me. I can still get sent down any time." Palmieri went onto say that while he's not happy, he doesn't disagree with their decision. He isn't expected to have any fantasy value this season, but he might be worth owning in a couple of years.

Nick Palmieri isn't that far removed from a two-goal night, but the New Jersey Devils apparently aren't happy with his overall work. Palmieri looks to be a healthy scratch in favor of Rod Pelley. Neither player is particularly relevant to fantasy hockey owners, although Palmieri might have some upside for the future.

Nick Palmieri scored his first goal of the season in a 5-3 loss to Phoenix Thursday. Palmieri is now seeing action on the top line, alongside Zach Parise and Ilya Kovalchuk, so that can't hurt his fantasy value, at least in the short term. Parise scored his fourth of the season and Mark Fayne potted his second to give the Devils a short-lived 2-1 lead but they could not hold on. If he is able to continue scoring, Palmieri could fight for top-six minutes when Travis Zajac returns from injury.

Looking to make the New Jersey Devils lineup out of camp, Nick Palmieri impressed the Devis coaching staff in yesterday's preseason loss to the Islanders. "I thought Nick Palmieri had a good game. I thought he was real effective for us," the coach said. "I thought Palmieri had good jump, Out of the three games (Palmieri played in all three), I thought tonight he was involved. He was physical. He was on the puck. He was around the front of the net. Not just the fact he scored a goal. That isn't the only reason. He played with a lot of jump." The Devils hope he can be an effective winger for one of the top two lines.
