Michalek (concussion) tallied a goal in his return to the lineup for Wednesday's playoff-opening loss to the Canadiens.

Michalek was the closest Senators player near the puck when the Habs' Andrei Markov put it into his own net to give the visitors an early 1-0 lead. While the goal wasn't technically Michalek's own doing, he nonetheless made an impact right away, as he saw 15:58 of action while coach Dave Cameron deployed him on the Sens' second line. Michalek's reentry into the lineup bumped Mike Hoffman to a bottom-six role.

Michalek (concussion) is slated to play Wednesday against Montreal.

The good news regarding the winger's status was relayed Monday by coach Dave Cameron, who noted that Michalek is set to re-enter the Sens' lineup on Wednesday in place of Zack Smith. Michalek, who last suited up on March 21, finished the regular season with 34 points in 66 games for the Sens.

Michalek (concussion) skated on a line with Bobby Ryan and Mika Zibanejad at Monday's practice, TSN's Brent Wallace reports.

We'll track Michalek's status in the coming days, but assuming no setbacks, that the winger was skating with Ryan and Zibanejad at Monday's practice would appear to bode well for his chances of suiting up Wednesday against the Canadiens.

Coach Dave Cameron said Thursday that Michalek (concussion) is not close to a return.

Cameron indicated Michalek tried to "push it a little bit and didn't feel good" in a recent skate, so it looks like he'll be off the ice for at least the next several days. Don't expect the winger to return to game action before the end of the regular season.

Michalek's upper-body injury is being labeled as a concussion, TSN's Steve Lloyd reports.

It's not overly surprisingly since Michalek was forced to exit Saturday's win over the Maple Leafs after taking a shot to the head. Michalek has yet to resume skating with the team and should be viewed as out indefinitely until the Senators provide word otherwise.

Michalek scored a goal and dished a pair of assists (one on an empty-netter) in Thursday's 6-4 win over Boston.

The solid performance ended a three-game scoreless skid from Michalek and probably felt pretty darn good after he'd been frustrated Tuesday in Carolina, firing six shots on net with no results to show for it. With just 34 points in 65 games on the year, though, he remains a modest fantasy contributor. The 30-year-old's career to this point can only be viewed as a disappointment in light of the fact that he was once considered one of the league's most purely talented players, but has never achieved the superstar level that was expected of him.

Michalek picked up two assists in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Canadiens.

The talented, but oft-underwhelming winger has heated up of late, with six points in the last five games. He can't be counted on to keep it up, but Michalek's worth an add in deeper formats while he's hot.

Michalek picked up two assists and fired four shots on goal in Friday's win over the Sabres.

Michalek has put up four multi-point games in his last 10 outings, giving him 11 goals and 28 points in 58 games on the season. While he's been inconsistent this season, the 30-year-old has found his stride alongside Kyle Turris and Mark Stone on the second line.
