Ryder picked up an assist in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Blue Jackets. In addition to picking up his seventh point in 11 games this season, Ryder paced the Devils with three hits on the evening. He's been a reliable contributor on the team's third line and could approach 40 points by the time the season concludes.

Ryder scored a goal, handed out two assists and went plus-2 in Thursday's season-opening win over the Flyers. On a weird night for the Devils, Ryder had his first three-point game since April 4, 2013, when he was with the Canadiens.

Ryder potted a power-play goal in Thursday's preseason loss to the Islanders, his third goal in two preseason games. Ryder was maddeningly inconsistent last season, his first with the Devils. He is one of several New Jersey players expected to see significant power-play time and top-six minutes. Ryder can score, but how often he does so is the question. He finished last season with 18 goals scattered across all 82 games, his lowest total per-game total since the 2010-11 season.

Michael Ryder was the lone New Jersey goal scorer in a 2-1 shootout loss to Ottawa Thursday. Ryder's marker was his 18th of the year and brings his point total to 34 in 80 games. Anton Volchenkov and Tim Sestito picked up assists on the goal.

Michael Ryder skated on the Devils' fourth line during Tuesday's practice. Ryder wasn't surprised by the decision to demote him. "Well, I only have one goal in how many games is it? The coach thinks this is the best thing to do for the team, so I just have t work hard and try and earn my ice time back," Ryder said. He has just one goal in his last 26 contests.

Michael Ryder's goalless drought reached 22 games on Saturday in a 3-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning. He was credited with a team-high four shots, but wasn't able to score his 17th goal of the season. "It's been tough," he said after the loss. "It's been a while since I scored a goal. Especially getting shut out tonight, I had a couple of good opportunities to put the team on the board and it's tough points to give away right now this time in the season. I've got to make sure I keep pushing and make sure I play that way or even better every night and try to find a way to score some goals."

Michael Ryder fired a team-high four shots on goals for the Devils, who fell 3-0 to the Lightning on Saturday night. Ryder also had two penalty minutes and was one of five Devils to have an even rating. Signed for his ability to light the lamp, Ryder has just 16 goals and 29 points this season. Further, the winger is mired in a deep goal drought, his last one coming Jan. 11. Dainius Zubrus had four penalty minutes and was a minus-one.

Michael Ryder has not scored a goal in his last 16 games. The streaky Ryder is in one of his bad streaks but he should come out of it soon. "I really liked him (Saturday) on the Island," coach Peter DeBoer said. "I thought (Sunday) he didn't find a way to get the puck to the net. I get concerned when he's not getting shots on net. I'm not concerned as much about the goals as I am about when the opportunities dry up. That's when you get concerned." Ryder has 16 goals and 28 points in 62 games with a minus-10 rating.

Michael Ryder is as streaky a goal scorer as there is, and of late he just cannot put the puck in the net. Against the Oilers Friday night, his drought hit 12 games, but he worked his tail off putting a team-best five shots on net and he also hit a crossbar. Finally, Ryder was rewarded in overtime, although not with a goal. When Adam Henrique did some great work along the boards to get the puck free, it went to Ryder, who whipped a backhand pass across the ice to set up Jon Merrill's game-winner. The point was Ryder's first in nine games. Maybe this ended his long string of bad luck.

Sunday's outdoor game will be the third for Michael Ryder in his NHL career. Ryder played in the first outdoor game in 2005 as a rookie member of the Montreal Canadiens and then played for the Boston Bruins in 2010. He has been on the winning end of the two matches and will look to make it three in a row Sunday at Yankee Stadium. Ryder has 16 goals and 26 points in 52 games with a minus-five rating and 12 penalty minutes. His fantasy value is weak in deeper pools.
