Max Reinhart recorded his first NHL point on Wednesday. It was an assist on Curtis Glencross' goal. Reinhart also recorded five shots on goal and logged 14:11 minutes. If he continues to get at least that much playing time, he might have some limited fantasy value in single-season leagues.

Max Reinhart is projected to center the first line on Wednesday. The Calgary Flames don't have any hope of making the playoffs, so players like Reinhart should get plenty of opportunities. Despite that, we can't recommend picking up Reinhart at this time.

Calgary coach Bob Hartley was happy with the NHL debut of Max Reinhart Saturday. Reinhart, the son of NHL veteran Paul who played 11 seasons in the league, was drafted in the third round of the 2009 Draft and played his first game in his hometown of Vancouver. "We want grit in this organization, and he went to the dirty areas," Hartley said. "He fought in the corners. He was great behind the net. For his first game, I was really happy." Reinhart had seven goals and 21 points in 67 AHL games this season, his first as a pro. While he scored in junior hockey, he could be a bottom six forward in the NHL, chipping in with the occasional point.

Max Reinhart made his NHL debut for the Flames in Saturday's 5-2 loss to Vancouver. The rookie skated for over 16 minutes of ice time and registered three shots on goal, but was saddled with a minus-2 rating in the losing effort."Definitely a high to a low," Reinhart said about his first game in the big leagues. "It's obviously not the way you want it to start, but that kind of stuff happens. I had to shake it off and forget it happened." With the Flames now committed to a full-fledged rebuilding effort, look for Reinhart to spend the rest of the season in Calgary.

Max Reinhart called scoring his first goal of the 2012-13 AHL campaign on Dec. 4 a "massive relief." Reinhart was playing in his 20th contest of the season before he finally found the back of the net. He scored again on Sunday. "I don't think I've ever gone that long without scoring a goal," Reinhart said. "I was hitting a lot of posts. I was getting some goalies making some pretty good saves on me, and the frustration was building and building." Reinhart is trying to adjust to the AHL after scoring 28 goals and 78 points in 61 WHL contests last season. He has four points in 23 AHL games in 2012-13.

Calgary GM Jay Feaster thinks that Max Reinhart is close to being ready to play in the NHL. The oldest son of former NHL defenseman Paul Reinhart was selected in the third round of the 2009 Entry Draft by the Flames and Feaster is really impressed by Reinhart's hockey sense which he got from listening to his dad. "I've always known that my mind has kind of been my strong point - my ability to see the ice and think the game," Reinhart said. "I think, as you can see, all the brothers kind of have that aspect of the game through our dad.I think it's from him sitting us down and teaching us. When we grew up, after every ice-time, there was something new to be learned. My dad was a smart player and he had a lot to teach us." The 20-year-old will benefit from the lockout as he will get in plenty of action in the AHL and could be ready for an NHL stint late in the season.
