This probably isn't surprising to those who have been tracking Moulson for awhile, who has just four goals in 34 games this year and 13 goals in 77 games last year. He was expected to be the team's top-line left winger but has been sinking on the depth chart for quite some time. Head coach Dan Bylsma is certainly sending a message although he hasn't confirmed the move yet. It also looks like Jamie McGinn has solidified his position on the team's top-six.

Moulson was moved to the fourth line for much of Tuesday's game against Detroit, reports The Buffalo News.

EDGE Analysis

Despite scoring an assist in three straight games, Moulson has gone 13 games without a goal and has just four goals in 25 games overall this season. He played just 1:51 in the third period Tuesday as his play continues to trend downward. Signed to a $25 million contract by Buffalo in 2014, Moulson has scored just 17 goals since then. Fantasy owners can feel free to drop him until he picks it up, but that seems very unlikely. It's clear that Moulson's 30-goal seasons were a byproduct of John Tavares' elite abilities.

Moulson put himself on the score sheet in back-to-back games for the first time this season following Saturday's game against Nashville.

EDGE Analysis

Moulson managed to put together his first scoring streak of the season, netting one assist in each of his last two games. The 32-year-old left winger is averaging over two and half minutes per game on Buffalo's secondary power-play unit. Moulson's ability to get on the score sheet is having a clear impact on the Sabres, who have won four of the last five games in which he recorded a point.

Moulson took a minor hooking penalty Tuesday against Philadelphia, giving him six penalty minutes on the season.

EDGE Analysis

If fantasy owners are looking for peripheral stats from Moulson, they won't get much from the gentlemanly player. He took just two minor penalties the previous season and just four the season before that. He now has 100 PIM in 483 career games. Since Evander Kane's injury (ankle), Moulson has seen his ice time creep up, but remains a fringe fantasy option given his minimal production and sparse usage on the team's top line. He remains a fixture on the power play, but hasn't done much damage there.

Moulson racked up a goal and two assists in Monday's 4-2 win over the Blue Jackets.

EDGE Analysis

Moulson's three points led all skaters Monday night, and two of them came on the man advantage. Moulson looks like he could be in for a nice comeback year playing alongside Jack Eichel on a young Sabres team. He's a player to keep an eye on the waiver wire just in case he becomes a dependable scorer again.

He'll most assuredly top that mark this year playing alongside Eichel, and should provide fantasy owners with some good value in the later rounds.

Moulson is set to return to action against the Hurricanes on Monday after missing two games with the flu, the Buffalo News reports. Based on the Sabres' morning skate, Moulson -- who has 40 points in 74 games to date -- will work on the team's top line Monday, along with Johan Larsson and Tyler Ennis.

Moulson (illness) didn't travel with the Sabres to Long Island for Saturday's game, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports. Moulson will miss out on one last appearance at Nassau Coliseum against his former team, as the Islanders are set to relocate to Brooklyn next season. The winger will remain in Buffalo and instead set his sights on getting healthy in advance of Monday's match against the Hurricanes.

Moulson (illness) will not play Friday against the Blackhawks, Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550 reports. With Moulson out of the lineup, the Sabres may need to recall an extra forward from AHL Rochester to provide some depth up front. Moulson's next chance to suit up will come on Saturday against the Islanders.
