Martin will be a healthy scratch for the second straight game when the Islanders take on the Capitals on Tuesday, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Martin will ride the bench in favor of Ross Johnston, who will play on the fourth line with Cal Clutterbuck and Casey Cizikas. Coach Barry Trotz seems to prefer what Johnston can bring to the team at this point over Martin. Johnston is best known for his fists but does have some offensive ability for a man his size, while Martin is just that guy that hits anything and everything in an opposing uniform. Martin next will get a chance to play Thursday versus the Rangers.

Martin is expected to be a healthy scratch when the Islanders take on the Ducks on Sunday, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Martin is expected to be replaced by Ross Johnston. Coach Barry Trotz believes both players have the same skill set and can play either one on the fourth line with Casey Cizikas and Cal Clutterbuck. Johnston is best known for his skill set with his fists and has some offensive capabilities. Still, if you're starting him in fantasy, you're likely looking for him to be involved in a fight or two, so he can pile up the penalty minutes.

Martin was a healthy scratch for the second straight game Tuesday versus the Avalanche.
EDGE Analysis
Martin seems to have been replaced on the fourth line by Ross Johnston. The difference between Johnston and Martin isn't so much in their physical presence; Martin hits everything that moves while Johnston can keep opposing teams honest with his fists. The difference seems to be that Johnston looks to possess more offensive ability than Martin. Coach Barry Trotz seems to prefer finding offense, as minuscule as it may be, from wherever it may be.

Martin has gone six straight games without registering a point for the Islanders.
EDGE Analysis
While Martin may not help the Islanders as far as points are concerned, he's not a liability either. Martin's job is to hit everything in an opposing jersey and provide energy for the team. Martin also has a rating of plus-2, which is second among the forwards for the Islanders. Martin also leads the forwards in penalty minutes with 42. That being said, everyone on the team is being looked at as the Islanders are once again struggling to score goals. Martin could be a healthy scratch from time to time so that younger players with less physicality but more ability to light the lamp can play.

Martin only has two goals and two assists along with a rating of plus-1 in 37 games this season for the Islanders.
EDGE Analysis
The plus-1 rating leads all regular forwards for the Islanders as only Kieffer Bellows, who has played 22 games, has a better rating at plus-2. Martin also leads Islanders' forwards and is third in penalty minutes with 42. Martin's value for the Islanders will never be on the scoring side; it's measured in the hits he hands and the energy he provides the team. Martin should be playing with his usual linemates, Cal Clutterbuck and Casey Cizikas, when the Islanders take on the Kraken on Tuesday.

Martin scored a goal on two shots, levied three hits, blocked two shots and went plus-2 in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Canucks.
EDGE Analysis
It was a rare productive outing for Martin, who helped squash the Canucks' comeback hopes late in the third period. The goal was his second of the season and his fourth point in 32 contests. He's been better of late with three of his points coming in the last 10 games, but he's still a fourth-liner on a low-scoring team. In deeper fantasy formats, managers may have some use for Martin's 116 hits and 40 PIM, but his offense leaves a lot to be desired.

Martin only has one goal and two assists in 31 games this season for the Islanders.
EDGE Analysis
This season has been a struggle for Martin since the opening puck drop. Martin missed the first two games of the season due to offseason surgery and has never seemed to get back in sync. At times, Martin has even been a healthy scratch in favor of Ross Johnston. The Islanders don't rely on Martin to wrinkle the twine, but three points at his point of the season for a team that is again struggling to score goals is hard to stomach. Martin will look to turn around his season when the Islanders play the Canucks on Wednesday.

Tue 2/8/22 8:11 PM

Martin only has a single goal and two assists in 31 games for the Islanders this season.
EDGE Analysis
It's been a trying season for Martin, who came into the campaign rehabbing an injury. The Islanders' schedule, which has been chopped up due to the opening 13 game road trip and COVID-19, hasn't helped matters either. Martin isn't expected to score more than a handful of goals; his role is to hit anything in a different color jersey and provide energy for the team. Unfortunately, with the Isles once again in a goal-scoring slump, everyone who isn't lighting the lamp gets looked at in a different light.

Martin added an assist in a 3-2 loss to the Kings on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Martin is not a historically productive offensive player, with just three points to his name this season. The left winger has provided a goal and an assist in his last six games though, after having gone the previous 22 games with just one point.

Martin scored an empty-net goal on two shots, doled out three hits and went plus-2 in Monday's 4-1 win over the Flyers.
EDGE Analysis
The Islanders got a combined two goals and four points from their fourth line, with Martin finishing the scoring with his empty-netter. It was the veteran winger's first goal of the season. He's added one assist, 20 shots on net, 84 hits, 31 PIM and a minus-2 rating. He's not likely to add much offense going forward, so fantasy mangers don't need to pay much attention to Martin's production.
