Hunwick has been a surprise offensive performer this preseason.
EDGE Analysis
Hunwick is riding a three-game, four-point streak including three goals. That's more a function of playing a prominent role in the midst of a roster full of youngsters and no-names than it is a foreshadowing of something to come. Hunwick has only scored four goals total over the last three seasons. He'll get you hits and blocks, but not much else.

Hunwick (sports hernia) is healthy and ready to resume his role as rudder on the Toronto blue line, reports the Toronto Sun.
EDGE Analysis
He was a reliable member of Mike Babcock's system before he was shut down for surgery and Hunwick is ready to resume that role. He could be partnered with Morgan Rielly on the top pairing, but that decision won't be finalized until late in camp. It won't affect his limited fantasy value, though.

Hunwick (abdomen) should be ready for training camp ahead of the 2016-17 season, the Toronto Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hunwick, an agile minutes-muncher, reportedly has plans to resume skating by the end of May, following surgery to correct a sports hernia injury. Hunwick scored twice and set up eight scores this season, while averaging one point every six games. It was a struggle for Hunwick to try and defend for the lowly Leafs as he finished with an ugly minus-17 rating, tied with fellow defenseman Morgan Rielly for the worst mark on the team.

Hunwick will undergo sports hernia surgery and miss the remainder of the season, Paul Hendrick of Leafs TV reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hunwick apparently suffered the initial injury Feb. 13 against the Canucks, but he continued to lace up and play up until Monday. He'll have a 10 week recovery period and is expected to resume skating in July, so the blueliner should be ready to go by the start of the 2016-17 season. The 30-year-old had 10 points in 60 games in his first season in Toronto and will be replaced on the top defensive pairing by Martin Marincin.

Hunwick will return Saturday against the Canadiens, reports Paul Hendrick of Leafs TV.
EDGE Analysis
Hunwick looks poised to return from his undisclosed injury, as his last appearance was Feb. 15 against the Blackhawks, missing a total of four games. The 30-year-old blueliner hasn't been able to turn 22:27 of ice time into production, notching only eight points on the season.

Hunwick (undisclosed) was not on any of Toronto's defensive pairings in warm-ups and thus can be considered out for Tuesday's tilt with Nashville, Mark Masters of TSN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hunwick will miss his third game in a row with the undisclosed injury Tuesday. The 30-year-old veteran defenseman Hunwick has just 8 points through 54 games played this season, so his absence shouldn't affect fantasy owners too much. Jake Gardiner will continue to see increased playing time in his abscence. Hunwick's next chance to play will be Thursday when Toronto plays at Carolina.

Hunwick (undisclosed) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Flyers, TSN's Mark Masters reports.
EDGE Analysis
He will miss a second game in a row with the undisclosed injury Saturday. Hunwick has not done much to warrant fantasy consideration this season, and Jake Gardiner and Roman Polak should continue to see expanded roles on defense in his absence. His next chance to play will be Tuesday against the Predators.

Hunwick (undisclosed) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Rangers, Mark Masters of TSN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hunwick's absence shouldn't have too much of an impact for fantasy owners, as he's managed just eight points through 54 games this season. He does make an impact with his body (111 hits, 86 blocks), so those looking for help in those categories will need to look elsewhere. In the blueliner's absence, Viktor Loov will draw into the lineup Thursday (making his NHL debut), while Hunwick can next play Saturday against the Flyers.

Hunwick (undisclosed) is questionable for Thursday's matchup with the Rangers, TSN's Mark Masters reports.
EDGE Analysis
The nature of Hunwick's ailment remains a mystery, but if he's ultimately unable to go, recently recalled Viktor Loov will slot into the lineup and make his NHL debut against the Rangers on Thursday. Although Hunwick is a solid NHL defender, fantasy owners likely don't need to concern themselves with his status, as he's only managed to tally eight points (one goal, seven assists) in 54 games this season.

Hunwick continues to play an important role on Toronto's blue line, but not from an offensive perspective. He has just six points, including a single goal, on the season.
EDGE Analysis
He has picked up five of those points in the last 17 games after snagging just a single assist in his first 30. But don't mistake this pseudo streak as some kind of latent value -- Hunwick is a classic better on the ice than in the fantasy arena guy. And there's a strong chance that on-ice value buys him a ticket to a contender by the trade deadline. Even then, Hunwick's fantasy value won't climb.
