Marty Reasoner was ejected from Game 1 Wednesday night after he was assessed a kneeing major with 2:10 left in the third period on a collision with Pittsburgh forward Jussi Jokinen. Reasoner, who was a healthy scratch for the Islanders in the final 10 games of the regular season, stuck his leg out on the play but the contact was more ankle on ankle than anything else. New York's Travis Hamonic, Casey Cizikas and Matt Moulson were given misconduct penalties on the ensuing scrum, while Doug Murray, Jarome Iginla and Pascal Dupuis got the same from the Penguins' side. It isn't clear if Reasoner will face supplemental discipline for the hit and Jokinen's status wasn't updated after the game.

Marty Reasoner appears as though he will play for the Islanders in Game 1 at Pittsburgh Wednesday night. Coach Jack Capuano said he "can do the job for us, no question." Reasoner hasn't played since April 4 and he doesn't have much NHL playoff experience, but he is a veteran player. Whether he plays or doesn't, he doesn't have any fantasy value.

The Islanders are "shopping" Marty Reasoner, according to Arthur Staple of Newsday. The veteran center has pretty much lost his role as a fourth-liner/penalty-killer, and there's probably not going to be much interest in him. He's in the last year of a two-year, $2.7 million deal, with seven points in 71 total games with the team. Reasoner is likely to be put on waivers soon.
