Adam was released from his professional tryout with Calgary on Sunday, Dhiren Mahiban of The Canadian Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Adam inked the deal with the Flames Sep. 21 but must not have impressed enough to stay with the club. He's now a free agent and will be available to sign with other teams.

Adam will join the Flames on a professional tryout agreement, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
Adam is coming off back-to-back AHL seasons where he averaged over a point per two contests between the Rochester Americans, Springfield Falcons, and the Hartford Wolfpack. The former AHL Rookie of the Year stands at six-foot-two and 206 pounds and uses his size to effectively score on rebound opportunities in front of the net. If he does get inked to a long-term contract with the Flames following his tryout, it appears unlikely he will claim a featured role in the lineup until he can prove his talent translates to the NHL.

Adam agreed to terms with the Rangers on Friday. The 25-year-old spent most of last season in the AHL, appearing in 73 games for the Rochester Americans and registering 16 goals and 26 assists. He saw time in only three NHL games for Columbus, recording four penalty minutes. Adam will likely again see time at both the AHL and NHL levels next season.

Adam wasn't tendered a contract by the Blue Jackets on Monday and will become an unrestricted free agent. Adam appeared in only three games with the Blue Jackets last season, but that was likely only a byproduct of the team enduring substantial hits to its depth due to injury. The 25-year-old will try to land an AHL spot with whichever organization he lands this offseason.

Adam was reassigned to AHL Springfield on Saturday, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports. Adam appeared in three games during his stint with the Blue Jackets, logging no points or shot attempts during that time. His demotion likely signals that Brandon Dubinsky (illness) will be available for Sunday's game against the Hurricanes.

Adam was recalled from AHL Springfield Monday. Adam, who has posted 38 points (13 goals) in 58 AHL games between both the Sabres' and Blue Jackets' affiliates this season, has not appeared in an NHL game since last season. The team has already suffered a rash of injuries this season, but the move may signal that Alexander Wennberg will be unavailable for Tuesday's game against the Hurricanes after suffering an undisclosed injury.

Adam was acquired by the Blue Jackets on Tuesday in exchange for forward Jerry D'Amigo. In an exchange of low-end prospects, Adam will join a Blue Jackets organization that could end up finding a spot for him in their bottom-six ranks at some point later this season. For now, he'll stay in the AHL and report to Springfield. Adam had eight goals and 20 points over 27 games with the Sabres' AHL affiliate in Rochester.

Adam was placed on waivers Saturday, a day after being assigned to Rochester, reports John Vogl of The Buffalo News. Teams have until Monday to make a claim for Adam since he was placed on waivers over the weekend. The raw power forward didn't have a good camp after being re-signed to a one-year deal over the summer. There is a chance he will be claimed by another team. The Sabres lost Corey Tropp on waivers to Columbus last year. However, a change of scenery might benefit Adam.

Adam was one of 11 players cut by the Sabres on Friday. Unless Adam puts together an exceptional season, this could very well be his last season with Buffalo. The second-round pick from 2008 has size, strength and goal scoring skill, but still hasn't been able to put it all together. His inconsistency is maddening. Adam signed a one-year extension over the summer and will be a restricted free agent at the end of the contract, but with the Sabres' deep pool of prospects they may not retain his rights. Adam has scored 44 goals in the AHL over the past two years but has just two goals in 16 games for the Sabres during that time.

Adam is on the bubble and fighting for a roster spot based on the depth charts published by The Buffalo News. Adam will play on center Johan Larsson's left wing and opposite of right winger Zac Dalpe. Dalpe was signed over the summer as additional depth while Larsson is also fighting for a roster spot. Adam returned to the Sabres after signing a one-year extension, but time is running out for the former second-round pick. In 12 games with the Sabres he recorded just one goal and 16 shots. When Adam is on his game, he can be a serviceable power forward, but his consistency has been poor. Adam will need to go through waivers if he is demoted, which provides an extra wrinkle to his situation. Last year, the Sabres waived Corey Tropp, and the same fate could await Adam if he has a poor showing at camp.
