Okposo apparently won't be traded prior to the draft reports TSN's Darren Dreger.

General manager Garth Snow could just be trying to drive up the price by making this announcement or perhaps the offers he was receiving just weren't to his liking. Either way Snow would seem to have a choice, sign Okposo to a long term deal or trade him before the deadline next March. If Okposo remains with the team he is expected to once again play on the top line with John Tavares.

The Islanders are accepting trade inquiries on Okposo, according to Newsday.

It seems general manager Garth Snow has a choice, either sign Okposo long term to a contract north of $50 million or trade him before he becomes a free agent after the 2015-16 season. Another problem for Snow will be who will play on the top line with John Tavares if Okposo is dealt? Even with Okposo in the fold the Isles couldn't find a reliable winger to play alongside with that duo, now they may need two wingers. The Isles don't own a first or second round pick in this year's draft but according to rumors, Okposo would only be dealt for young players, not draft picks.

Okposo tallied a goal in Sunday's Game 3 win over the Capitals.

Okposo has registered a point in each of the Isles' three playoff games to date and has picked up at a goal or assist in five consecutive contests dating back to the end of the regular season. Though he's no longer positioned next to John Tavares on the Isles' top line, Okposo has shown enough effectiveness on the second trio to remain a worthy choice for daily lineups during the postseason.

Okposo notched an assist and went plus-2 in Wednesday's Game 1 victory over the Capitals.

Okposo's production has generally slowed since he returned from a detached retina in early March, but he raised his performance as the regular season drew to a close, notching a goal and two assists in his final two games. While he's no longer skating next to John Tavares as frequently, Okposo can probably be relied upon for capable secondary scoring on the Isles' second line.

Okposo scored the game-winning goal on the power play in Saturday's 3-0 win over Buffalo.

He has two goals in his last three games; both of the goals came on the power play. Okposo would have been a 70-75 point player if he'd stayed healthy this season.

Okposo may be taken off the top line with John Tavares, according to Newsday.

The Islanders offense has been struggling mightily of late with only 10 goals in their last seven games and Okposo has been part of the problem with only one goal since his return from an eye injury. Okposo is not the sole reason for the Isles scoring woes but could move down to the second line with Frans Nielsen who he has had success with in the past.

Okposo put the finishing touches on the Isles' victory over the Devils on Saturday, tallying an empty-net goal in the game's final minute.

It's the first point for Okposo since returning from a nearly two-month absence due to a detached retina. After averaging just under a point per contest before missing time, Okposo has struggled to reintegrate himself into the lineup, as his return coincided with four straight losses before the Isles ended the streak Saturday. While an empty-net goal shouldn't be viewed as a sign that he's back on track, Okposo provided further encouragement with five shot attempts on the night, marking his highest total in his first five games back with the team.

Okposo (eye) will return to action Tuesday against the Rangers.

Okposo, who will thus come off IR in advance of Tuesday's contest, hasn't played since January 19th, but he'll return to the Isles' lineup second on the team in scoring, with 44 points in 46 games to date.

Okposo (eye) could return for Tuesday's matchup versus the Rangers, according to Newsday.

Okposo will need to be cleared by the medical staff before the team will make their final determination if he should return to the lineup. Keep in mind that the Islanders are known for being conservative with their injuries and prefer to wait an extra game or two rather than risk re-injury. A win Tuesday versus the Rangers would certainly help the Isles in their quest to win the division but in the long run it may be more beneficial to keep him out a few more days.
