Kimmo Timonen had a goal and an assist Sunday in the Flyers 4-3 shootout loss to Boston. Timonen has five goals and 32 points this season including a goal and four points in his last two games. The Finnish blueliner has been hot since returning from the Sochi Olympics where he won a bronze medal as he has three goals and 13 points in 14 games. He definitely has earned a spot on someone's fantasy roster with his offensive play of late.

He toying with the idea of retiring this summer, but he should be able to get a new NHL contract if he decides that he wants to extend his career.

"It keeps you motivated every night, thinking about that I still have a chance to get it. Hopefully it's this year. These next 18 games are really huge for me and our team to get into the playoffs. Anything's possible. That's my opinion. . It doesn't matter how many points you got during the regular season. We have to get in [the playoffs], then anything's possible." Timonen's offensive production has dropped off this season, but he's still good enough to land another NHL contract if he decides to continue his career.

Kimmo Timonen lit the lamp twice in the Flyers' 4-3 loss to the Maple Leafs on Saturday night. Timonen's goals were his first since Dec. 9 and just his fourth of the season, and he now has 26 points. Brayden Coburn had the other marker, while Jakub Voracek chipped in with two helpers.

Kimmo Timonen will take the night off Thursday, but coach Craig Berube said he'll be back in the lineup on Saturday. He rejoined the Flyers for practice on Wednesday for the first time since returning from the Olympics. The 38-year-old defender has had trouble sleeping since he got back from Sochi, so he'll get some extra rest.

The way we played on Finland was as a team, and we didn't have any big stars other than [Teemu] Selanne. You play as a team with a good goalie, anything is possible." Finland also managed to overcome a number of significant injuries. The Flyers wrapped up their pre-Olympic schedule with a four-game winning streak and consequently have a three-point cushion in their battle for a playoff spot.

Kimmo Timonen will be a healthy scratch on Thursday. Timonen is getting some extra time to rest after returning from the 2014 Winter Games. He has two goals and 19 points in 57 games in 2013-14.
