Jay Pandolfo has announced his retirement. Pandolfo, 38, is hanging up his skates after playing in 899 NHL games primarily with the New Jersey Devils. Towards the end of his career, he also spent a season with the New York Islanders and the shortened campaign with the Boston Bruins. He had 100 goals and 226 career points. He also won the Stanley Cup in 2000 and 2003 as a member of the Devils.

Jay Pandolfo won't be brought back by Boston for next season. According to the Boston Globe's Fluto Shinzawa, Pandolfo is leaning toward retirement. He played in 18 games with the Bruins during the 2013 campaign and watched the playoffs from the press box as a healthy scratch.

If Patrice Bergeron cannot play in Game 6 then could make his first appearance of the 2013 postseason. The Bruins placed Pandolfo on waivers Tuesday, which led many to believe Pandolfo had signed after spending weeks working out with the team as an unsigned free agent. If he clears waivers, it's possible Pandolfo could spend a few games in the AHL to get his conditioning up to game level. Either way, he doesn't have a ton of fantasy value in most formats.

Despite remaining without a contract, Jay Pandolfo continues to practice with the Boston Bruins. In fact, it appears he's also traveling with the team. That might seem like a lot for a guy who's only a tryout, but perhaps this means he'll get a chance to actually crack the Bruins' lineup.
