The Coyotes do not open their season until Saturday -- a home game against the Flyers -- which is later than most teams begin regular-season action. What this means for McGinn is that he'll be a risky fantasy play in weekly lineups that lock before the first slate of games Thursday.

Coyotes head coach Dave Tippett is hopeful McGinn will be able to return to practice Saturday, so it doesn't appear as though the 28-year-old winger is in any danger of missing Arizona's Oct. 15 season opener against the Flyers. McGinn is expected to slot into a bottom-six role with the Coyotes this season, limiting his fantasy value in leagues that don't count hits, an area where the gritty winger excels.

McGinn picked up five penalty minutes and three hits in Wednesday's 2-1 preseason loss to the Flames.

McGinn dropped the gloves and picked up a fighting major after sparring with Lance Bouma. The 'Yotes drew a whopping eight penalties but managed to only allow one power-play goal. After contributing 22 goals, 17 assists, and a minus-7 rating between Buffalo and Anaheim last season, McGinn will hope to impress on the third line with his fifth team in eight years.

McGinn signed a three-year, $10 million contract with the Coyotes on Friday, Pierre LeBrun of ESPN reports.

EDGE Analysis

This will be the fourth destination for McGinn in just three years. His time on the ice has slowly dwindled in each of the last four seasons (14:10 with Buffalo in 2015-16), but the 27-year-old may have an opportunity to stop that trend during his first season in Arizona while splitting time with Max Domi, Jordan Martinook, and Tobias Rieder (knee) at left wing.

McGinn netted a goal on his only shot in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Predators in Game 4.

EDGE Analysis

McGinn showed some serious hand-eye coordination as he batted the puck out of the air and in the net for his second goal of the series. The winger had two goals in 29 career playoff games before this season. He has two in two straight games in this series.

McGinn scored his 22nd goal of the season and added a helper while finishing plus-3 in Wednesday's 8-3 win over Calgary.

EDGE Analysis

McGinn has three goals, three assists and a plus-6 rating during his current four-game point streak. He was one of five Ducks to put up multiple points in this one, and should continue to improve on his plus-4 mark with the team if the guys around him keep contributing at such a high level.

McGinn scored two power-play goals in Thursday's 6-5 overtime loss against the Leafs.

EDGE Analysis

He opened the scoring less than three minutes into the first period by pounding a rebound home, and then the Ducks proceeded to give up four straight goals. But McGinn stayed with it and started their comeback, wristing a puck top shelf to start a four-goal Anaheim rally. Unfortunately, it ended in overtime heartbreak, but McGinn can stand tall in the knowledge that his play was key to the Ducks pulling out a point in this one. He's now set a new career mark in goals with 21, so fantasy owners in leagues that also count hits have reaped much more than expected from the 27-year-old winger.

McGinn scored the game-winning goal Friday against Boston.

EDGE Analysis

It was McGinn's 18th goal of the season and it came off a play from Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf. McGinn has now scored in back-to-back games and has four goals in nine games since arriving in Anaheim. If the 27-year-old can stick on the top line, he's worth looking at in deeper leagues. The Ducks are one of the best teams in the Western Conference and McGinn offers 20-goal potential alongside strong hit totals.

McGinn scored the Ducks' lone goal in Wednesday's loss to the Rangers, snapping a five-game slump in which he went without a point.

EDGE Analysis

A big start to McGinn's Anaheim career (three points in two games) perhaps predictably didn't lead to big things for the veteran winger, who's generally better regarded for his grit than his offense. That said, he's now within two goals of his career-high 19, set two years ago. If your league's a deep one that counts hits, there's certainly value to be found here.
