Skille (head) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Capitals, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports. The Blue Jackets will scratch Skille after he collided head-first with the boards in Saturday's 7-4 loss to the Lightning. It appears that he avoided a concussion since he was on the ice for Tuesday's morning skate, so there would seem to be a realistic chance that he'll be available for Friday's game against the Flyers.

The winger is a little banged up after a hard collision with the boards during Saturday's game against the Lightning, but could avoid missing any time. There's no word on exactly what's ailing Skille, but it's safe to assume it's nothing serious at this point.

Skille notched his third goal of the season in Saturday's loss to the Devils. A late waiver claim after he was cut by the Islanders following training camp, Skille has given the Blue Jackets some salvation in light of their rash of injuries at forward. Skille has probably played more than the team would prefer in an ideal scenario, but he's at least been competent for the Blue Jackets, if unspectacular. He currently occupies a spot on Columbus' second line, but he could get pushed down to the bottom six as soon as this week, if any of Artem Anisimov, Boone Jenner and Matt Calvert are able to return from injury.

Skille was claimed off waivers by the Blue Jackets on Sunday, the Columbus Dispatch reports. Skille was cut by the Islanders on Saturday and was expected to pass through waivers unclaimed, but instead was taken by the Blue Jackets. He appears to have a chance at making the roster with the late claim.

Columbus appears to be interested in keeping pending unrestricted free agent Jack Skille. It's likely that he'll be seeking a one-way deal after he played on a two-way contract last season. Skille skated in 22 games with Springfield in the AHL and he appeared in 16 contests with the Blue Jackets.

Jack Skille replaced the injured Nathan Horton on the top line Saturday. Skille played alongside Ryan Johanson and Boone Jenner but managed to play only 10:19 minutes as he had two shots on goal and one hit. Skille was drafted seventh overall in the 2005 Draft but has never made his mark in the NHL.

Jack Skille has been summoned from the minors. He has generated 13 goals and 11 assists in 22 games with Springfield of the AHL this season and he hasn't played for the Blue Jackets since Dec. 31. Skille was sent to the minors after he recovered from an oblique injury and he aggravated it in a fight.
