Volchenkov (lower body) skated by himself Thursday morning.Though Volchenkov's ailment doesn't seem to be too severe, his placement on injured reserve will prevent him from playing in Thursday's game against the Islanders. He's likely still a few days away from being fully healthy in any case, so the Predators will give him a few more days off to recover. Once he's activated from IR, Volchenkov could have difficulty finding a regular spot in the lineup, as the impending arrival of new acquisition Cody Franson will force one of the Preds' current third-pairing players to the press box on any given night.
