The Coyotes traded Vitale (concussion) and a pair of 2016 draft picks (No. 20, No. 53 overall) to the Red Wings on Friday in exchange for Pavel Datsyuk and the 16th overall selection in 2016.

Vitale only appeared in one game in the 2015-16 season, as he was TKO'd by Boston's Kevan Miller in a fight last October. The 30-year-old fractured his orbital bone and ultimately experienced "concussion-related issues." It's not clear how Vitale's recovery is going, but the Wings still must be ecstatic with this deal since it means the club no longer has to worry about Datsyuk's $7.5 million cap hit for the upcoming season.
