Ruutu (foot) has shed his walking boot and is skating again with the possibility of rejoining practice next week, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.

"He's progressing back," Hynes said of Ruutu, who has a fractured right foot. "He's skating lightly right now, so he's on that road back now to continue to skate and then see where he's going to be at maybe next week (there's) a possibility with practice. It's a little bit touch and go right now, but he is making some pretty good progress." Ruutu's initial timetable was set at four-to-six weeks, and he's right around the start of the fifth week for that estimate.
